Use the Preconfigured Patient Discharge Instructions
- Click Category and select a category from the list.
The pre-configured discharge instructions associated with the selected procedure and category appear in the grid.
- To add a discharge instruction,
- Select the Add Discharge Instruction to Today's Discharge Instructions on 1-click check box.
- Select the required instruction in the grid.
As you select an instruction in the grid, the selected instruction moves into the Today's Discharge Instructions grid.
- After you add the required discharge instructions to the Today's Discharge Instructions grid, clear the Add Discharge Instruction to Today's Discharge Instructions on 1-click check box.
- To add all the discharge instructions in the Today's Discharge Instructions grid, select the Add all Discharge Instructions to Today's Discharge Instructions on 1-click check box.
The discharge instructions appear in the Today's Discharge Instructions grid and the Add all Discharge Instructions to Today's Discharge Instructions on 1-click check box clears.Note: The Add all Discharge Instructions to Today's Discharge Instructions on 1-click check box and Add Discharge Instruction to Today's Discharge Instructions on 1-click check box are hidden if you select the Do not allow add on 1-click check box on the Procedure Orders and Discharge Instructions practice template.
- To view physician plan orders documented in the Assessment/Plan panel, click the Physician Plan Orders option above the Today's Discharge Instructions grid.
The Orders Type and Plan Orders appear in the Today's Discharge Instructions grid. This enables the nurse to avoid adding any duplicate instructions in the Patient Discharge Instructions panel.
- To manage a procedure order, double-click an order in the Today's Discharge Instructions grid.
The Order Management template opens to add completed or scheduling information.Note: When you select the Physician Plan Orders option, the Remove button turns unavailable as the physician plan orders must not be removed from the Patient Discharge Instructions panel. To remove a documented discharge instruction, highlight a row in the Today's Discharge Instructions grid and click Remove.The Generate Patient Discharge Instructions button at the bottom of the panel generates the ASC Patient Discharge Instructions document. You can include the signature of the patient, nurse, and/or responsible party at the bottom of the document.
