Configure Patient Discharge Instructions

You can configure the discharge instructions for a specific procedure to appear in the run-time Patient Discharge Instructions panel on the ASC - Postprocedure template.

  1. From Specialty, select a specialty to configure the discharge instructions.
  2. Select Patient Discharge Instructions.
  3. To configure patient discharge instruction for a specific procedure, click the Procedure field and select a procedure from the list. The list includes a list of procedures configured for the specialty in the Procedure Config practice template.
  4. From Category, select a category to associate with the discharge instruction.
    If the options in the list are not relevant, double-click the top-blank row in the list and enter a new category in the Category field. The newly added category is available in the Category list for the next discharge instruction documentation.
  5. Enter the reason for discharge in the Required field. The Required field is used to indicate that the instruction is required for reasons like regulatory, registry, quality measure, and so on for the selected procedure and/or category.
  6. In Discharge Instruction, enter the discharge instructions to be associated with the selected procedure and category.
  7. Click Add.
    The discharge instructions appear in the Patient Discharge Instructions grid.
  8. To add a new row of discharge instruction by making some changes to the existing patient instruction in the grid:
    1. Highlight a patient discharge instruction in the grid. The details of the selected discharge instruction populate in the corresponding fields above the grid.
    2. Make your changes.
    3. Click Add. A new row of patient discharge instruction is added to the Patient Discharge Instructions grid.
