Update IV Details
You can modify the IV insertion or removal details or the IV fluid details in the
IV
panel.
In the
IV
panel, click the
Insertion/Removal
or
IV fluid
option.
The corresponding records appear in the grid.
Highlight a row in the grid and click
Edit
.
The
ASC IV
template opens. The data populates in the corresponding fields.
Make relevant changes in the applicable fields.
Click
Save & Close
.
The modified data updates in the grid.

Document the IV Removal Details
Highlight a row of IV insertion record in the grid. Click Edit to open the ASC IV template. If the IV is removed, do the following in the Removal section: Click the drop-down next to the Removal time field. The Time Entry template opens. Note: The Removal time field is available to document only when the IV insertion attempt is Successful. Enter the time when the IV was removed and click OK. The documented time appears in the Removal time field. You can click the clock to enter the current system time. The Removed by field populates with the current user name. Click Removal site condition and select the condition(s) of the IV site after removing the IV. Click Close on the list. Click Reason for Removal and select a reason from the list. If appropriate, click Removed by and select the nurse or medical assistant who removed the IV from the patient. If applicable, enter or update comments in the Comments field. Record IV Fluid Details
On the IV panel, click the Fluids option to document the IV fluids infused to the patient. Click Add. The ASC IV template opens. ASC IV The current system time and user name appear in the Start time and the Started by fields, respectively. To change the Start time, do one of the following: Click the drop-down arrow and enter time in the Time Entry template. Click the clock , to display the current system time in the Start time field. Click Bag# and select the number of IV bags provided to patient or click the top-blank row in the list. Enter the IV type, IV solution, and Solution amount. For the Flow rate, select KVO (Keep vein open) or Specify flow rate from the list. If you select the Specify flow rate option, use the fields that follow to enter the flow rate, units and flow rate time. Note: If you select the KVO (Keep vein open) option, then the fields associated with the Specify flow rate option are not available for documentation, and a list appears to select IV status. Document the IV Insertion Details
Click Add. The ASC IV template opens. Click the Attempt # field and select the IV insertion attempt number. You can select the top-blank row in the list and enter the appropriate value in the Attempt # field. The current system time and username appear in the Insertion time field and the Inserted by field respectively. To change the time, click the drop-down arrow next to the Insertion time field. The Time Entry template opens. Enter the appropriate time when the IV was inserted into the patient and click OK. The documented time appears in the Insertion time field. If you click the clock , the current system time appears in the Insertion time field. Click Location and select the location where the IV is inserted. If the options in the list are not appropriate, click the top-blank row in the list and enter a value in the Location field. IV Panel on the ASC - Preprocedure Template
During the procedure a patient is usually administered anesthesia or other medication through an IV. The nurse or medical assistant inserts an IV into the patient and administers an IV bag containing a solution. A single IV bag usually provides the needed amount of solution throughout the course of the procedure. However, there are instances where multiple IV bags are required. The nurse or medical assistant needs the ability to document the additional IV bags of solution provided to the patient. The IV panel allows you to administer IV and to document multiple IV fluid bags used during a single procedure. The IV panel includes two different entry categories: IV Insertion/Removal and IV fluids. The Insertion/Removal option is selected by default. The IV details documented in the ASC - Preprocedure template also appear in the IV panel on the ASC - Intraprocedure, ASC - Postprocedure, and ASC - Anesthesiology templates. Modify the Pre-Procedure Prep Details
Select a row in the grid. The fields above the grid populate with the corresponding data. Make relevant changes in the applicable fields. Click Update. The modified data updates in the grid.
