Access Joint Aspiration/Injection Template

There are several options for opening the Joint Aspiration/Injection template: To open Joint Aspiration/Injection template, do one of the following: On the Intake or SOAP tab, select the Procedures link. Under Biopsy/Aspiration section, select Joint Aspiration/Injection. Open Joint Aspiration/Injection template through Intake or SOAP From the navigation bar, click the Procedures link to select Joint Aspiration/Injection from the Biopsy/Aspiration section. Document Detailed Consent Data for Joint Aspiration/Injection

In the Joint Aspiration/Injection template, click the Consent link to open the Consent - Procedures template. In the Provider field, click to select a name from the list. To select a description of the relationship of the consenter to the patient, do one of the following: Click the Consent by field to select a value. Click the top, blank row in the picklist to free text an entry into the field. Under Type of procedure, click the fields to enter up to three values. To document the timing of the procedure, do one of the following: Click Procedure date to select a value. Select the To be scheduled in the near future option for the procedure. If required, select the Procedure, treatment alternatives, risks and benefits were explained, specific risks discussed check box and then select the associated check box. Configure Medications for Joint Injections

You can configure medications for joint injections using the Joint Injection Data Setup template. For example, you can configure the Injection, dexamethasone sodium phosphate 1mg (J110) medication in two ways, based on preferences. Method 1 (commonly injected): If a provider usually injects 4 mg of the medication, this can be configured as 4 in the Amount field, mg in the Units field, and 4 in the Billing Units field. This method reduces the number of clicks in runtime. Method 2 (per billing unit): Define as one unit of medication is equal to one billing unit. This can be configured as 1 in the Amount field, mg in the Units field, and 1 in the Billing Units field. From the File menu, select System\Practice Template. The Select Template window appears. Click All on the Practice tab, select Data Sets Setup and then click OK. The Data Sets Setup template appears. Click the Data Set field and select Medication Billing from the resulting list. Joint Injection/Aspiration Template Defaults

The upper right corner of the Joint Injection/Aspiration template contains the Defaults field, along with the Right and Left check boxes, and the Quick Load and Save default set buttons. You can use these features to expedite documentation of joint aspirations and injections. Record Details for Patient's General Response

To record details for the patient’s general response to the procedures performed during the current encounter, on the Joint Aspiration/Injection template, fill in the associated fields. Patient Response section The provider can also go back after the procedure is completed to fill in the Improvement by site and % Improvement fields. Select No or Yes next to Tolerated procedure well. To specify how the patient tolerated of the procedure, do one of the following: Free text details in the Comments field. Use the My Phrases functionality. Document an Aspiration or Injection Procedure

In the Joint Aspiration/Injection template, highlight the diagnosis in the grid under Today’s Assessments. In the Procedure field, click to select a value from list. Select a Location from the picklists that display for the chosen procedure. To enter the method used, do one of the following: Click the Method field to select a value from the resulting list.
