Setup Requirements for a Pediatrics Specialty

You can set up certain basic configurations for a Pediatric specialty. Pediatric-specific configuration includes the ability to set: Age values Growth chart options Problem note default values Anticipatory guidance options The system and practice templates also provide the ability to set template preferences, add links required on the templates, configure task recipients, customize the reasons for visit, and so on. You can also customize the template layout to fit your workflow needs. Document the Height of Pediatric Patients

You can document the height of a pediatric patient in the US or Metric designations. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter. On Top Toolbar, select Templates . The Select Template window opens. Open the Intake template. In the Vital Signs panel, select Add. The Pediatric [Age] Vital Signs template opens. In the Height/length measurements section, select Height, and then do one of the following: For a pediatric patient younger than two years, enter the height in the ft or in field within the 0 – 5.66 ft, 0 – 11.99 in, or 0 – 172.52 cm range, respectively. Enter a value in the total in field within the 0 – 67.92 in range. For a pediatric patient older than two years, enter the height in the ft, in or cm fields within the 0 – 11.99 ft, 10.16 – 406.4 in, or 0 – 9.99 cm range, respectively. Document the Patient's Height

You can document the height of a patient in inches or in feet using the Vital Signs template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter. On Top Toolbar, select Templates . The Select Template window opens. Open the Intake template. Expand the Vital Signs panel. Select Add. The age-specific vital signs template opens. In Height/length measurements, do one of the following: To enter the current day's data, fill the ft, in, or cm fields within the 1 – 9.99 ft, 12 – 119.88 in, or 30.48 – 304.49 cm range, respectively. To enter previously documented data, select the Carried forward option. If you enter the height in either the ft, cm, or in field, the NextGen® Enterprise EHR fills values in the other fields automatically. Note: A message appears if the value entered is not within the range. Adult Vital Sign Indicate the position of the patient when the height is measured. Update the Heart Rate Alert Preferences

You can update the heart rate alert preferences for pediatric vital signs in the Heart Rate section. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Vital Signs Configuration, and then select OK.The Vital Signs Configuration practice template opens. In the Heart Rate grid, double-click the row to modify.The Pediatric Heart Rate Alerts template opens. Update the Respiratory Rate Alert Preferences

You can update the respiratory rate alert preferences for pediatric vital signs in the Respiratory Rate section. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Vital Signs Configuration, and then select OK.The Vital Signs Configuration practice template opens. You can update the alert preferences for fever data in pediatric vital signs in the Fever section. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Vital Signs Configuration, and then select OK.The Vital Signs Configuration practice template opens. In the Fever grid, double-click the row to modify.The Pediatric Fever Alert template opens. Pediatric Fever Alert window to update an alert depending on the age Select the age range and fever temperature for the patient.In runtime, if the temperature provided by a user is greater than the temperature entered in the Temperature field, an alert appears.
