Documenting Efficacy of Drug Therapy

You can review and enter information about medications precribed for the patient or discontinued in the Drug Therapy panel. On the Medications module, medications available for the patient appear in the Drug Therapy panel. Document Medications

You can document the medications to prescribe to a patient using the Medications module. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Intake template. In the Medications panel, select Add/Update. The Medications module opens. Select Prescribe New. The Medication Search template opens. Search for and select a medicine from the list. Enter the Sig, Quantity, Refills, and Start date details. Select the Prescribed elsewhere check box, if applicable. Select Accept. Close the Medications module. Note: If applicable, you can select the Comment link to open the Medication Comment template. You must not use the Medication Comment template to list medications the patient is consuming. You can use the Medication Comment template as a temporary location to list all the unknown medications the patient is consuming along with the dosage and sig details. Document a Patient's Drug Use

You can document the drug use of a patient on the Confidential – Alcohol/Drug template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Histories template. In the Social panel, select the Confidential History link. The Confidential - Alcohol/Drug template opens displaying the links to the confidential templates, in the left pane. In the Drug Use/Abuse section, indicate the patient's use of drugs. If you select No, no other documentation is required in this section. If you select Yes or Formerly, enter the age at which patient had started using drugs, the drug type, frequency of drug use, and route. If the patient had used the drug earlier and has now quit, select Quit. Select Yes or No to indicate if the patient has sought treatment for drug abuse. If you select Yes, enter the number of times the patient is treated and the date of the last treatment. Select Outpatient or Inpatient to indicate the type of treatment. Select Yes or No to indicate if the patient is involved in a 12-step program. If

Medications

You can document and manage the medication history and current medications of a patient. You can use the Medications panel to view the patient's current medications and medication history, enter additional prescriptions for the patient, and reconcile the medications listed with the actual active medications for the patient. You can use the No medications this encounter check box if there are no active medications for the patient. Medications Panel You can reconcile the medications for the patient using the Medications reconciled check box, and indicate that you have received the summary of care for the patient using the Summary of care received check box. Review Medications Manually

You can manually review the medications details that are taken by a patient for adherence to the prescribed medicines. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Intake template. Open the Medications Review template. Select the Review – adherence check box. In the Review – adherence list, select a patient adherence comment, or enter the comment. To review all the medications in the Medication List, select the Review All – Taken As Directed button. The medications appear in the Medication Review grid below the Medication List grid. To review one medication at a time and select a different adherence for each, select one row at a time from the Medication List grid. Each selected medication moves to the Medication Review grid. To move a medication from the Medication Review grid, select Medication List, and select Remove.
