Document Carotid Duplex Procedures

You can document the basic test and patient data in the Carotid Duplex. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Intake template. Select Cardiology as Specialty and Testing Only as Visit Type. Click the Carotid Duplex link. Note: To access this template, you can also click Carotid Duplex from the left Navigation bar. The Carotid Duplex template opens. Click the Carotid Duplex link. You can record the Carotid Duplex test details and create a test report. The Carotid Duplex template consists of the following panels. Document Summary of Echocardiogram Tests

You can document a summary of the Echocardiogram test in the Summary panel. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Click the Intake tab. Select Cardiology as Specialty and Testing Only as Visit Type. Click the Echo link to access the Echocardiogram template. In the Summary panel, click All Normal if all the results are normal. The Summary fields display the default statements for normal results. Enter a brief summary in the Summary field. Select an appropriate option from the list. Click the S icon to frame a sentence using the Sentence Builder template. Parent topic: Echo

Scan Patient Insurance Cards

You can scan both the front and back of a card using a duplex scanner. Note: A duplex scanner is not required, but is highly recommended for accuracy. A duplex scanner is not required, but highly recommended for accuracy. You can scan and record images of one or more insurance cards for the patient. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup . The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and then select Find. Patient records that match the search criteria appear in the Matching Records section. Select the patient, and then select Open. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. The encounters associated with the patient appear in the Encounters section. Select the Insurance tab and then select the encounter from the Encounters section. Right-click the selected insurance under the Encounter Insurance section, and then select Open. The Insurance Maintenance window opens. Select Scan.

Document Diagnostic Study Results

You can document the diagnostics study results in the Diagnostic History Entry template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Histories template. In the Diagnostic Studies panel, select Add. The Diagnostic History Entry template opens. Select a diagnostic study from the grid. In the Study Result section, select Interpretation and select a status. In Result, enter a brief synopsis or interpretation of the result. In Comments, enter your comments or use the My Phrases link. Select Add to HPI Grid. The selected diagnostic study is added to the Reason for Visit panel as Studies Reviewed. Note: The Add to HPI Grid button is enabled only if the selected study is created in the current encounter and has a documented Result or Interpretation. Select OK. Configure Scan Templates

You can create templates with pre-configured TWAIN settings that you can apply to a batch when you scan documents. The template adjusts the TWAIN interface settings that control the scanner. Open File Maintenance. Under System in Master Files, select Document Management, and then select Scan Templates. The Scan Templates List window opens. Select the open menu button, and then select New. The Scan Control window opens. Enter a short description that indicates the type of scanning template you want to create. Select the number of dots per inch (DPI) to apply to the scanned images. Note: Higher resolutions slow down the scanning process and increase the size of scanned images. Select the color mode to apply to the scanned images. You can select Gray Scale to reduce image size and increase scanned image quality.
