Document Respiration and Pulse Oximetry for Pediatric Patients

You can measure and document the patient's respiration and pulse oximetry readings.

  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
  2. Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter.
  3. On Top Toolbar, select Templates .
    The Select Template window opens.
  4. Open the Intake template.
  5. In the Vital Signs panel, select Add.
    The Pediatric [Age] Vital Signs template opens.
  6. Enter the respiration per minute within the 0 – 99 range.
  7. To enter the method of oxygen delivery, do one of the following:
    • Enter Method, and then enter FiO2 (Fraction of inspired Oxygen) within the 20 – 100 range.
    • Select Room air.
  8. Enter the pulse oximetry resting and ambulation readings in Pulse Ox Rest and Pulse Ox Amb within the 0 – 100 range.
  9. Select a source.
  10. Indicate if the pulse oximetry readings have been measured pre-treatment or post-treatment.
  11. Enter the location where the finger probe is placed.
  12. Save the template.
