Configuring Systems, Diagnosis Groups, and Codes

The Dx Groups Reference Systems practice template supports ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes for default diagnosis codes in the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine framework. It consolidates diagnosis code functionality to one location and provides consistency in the way templates access diagnosis codes. This requires retiring and modifying templates, the removal of all hard-coded ICD-9 codes from the existing templates and moving the functionality to the practice template. For example, as part of updating Common Assessments for the ICD-10 conversion project, the diagnosis types within the Pediatric framework have been migrated into the Dx Groups Reference Systems practice template. It provides you with a quick and easy access to configure their systems, and makes annual code updates easier. The actual codes are in File Maintenance. Dx Groups Reference Systems Template

This template pulls in functionality from other system/practice templates into a central location for managing reference systems, diagnosis groups, codes, and order sets. Diagnosis groups are based on triggers for order sets, care guidelines, and so on, as used by NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Diagnosis categories are set up in File Maintenance to be used in the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine applications such as the diagnosis search window. Create a New Order Set

The My Plan templates display all order sets that are available in the system, including those that are shipped with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. The order sets can be based on a diagnosis group, provider, or specialty (department). To manage clinical references, configure categories for order types or the master picklist, refer to the indicated link. On the Assessment Plan Customization template, choose a Display option to filter the grid under the Order Sets (My Plan/Custom Plan) section by the Current provider or All providers. In the grid under the Order Sets (My Plan/Custom Plan) section, right-click and select Add New. The Provider's Custom Plan template opens. Depending on how you want to set up the order set, click the Diagnosis Group, Provider, and/or Dept fields to select a value from the resulting list. Map the Test or Code Information on the Data Sets Setup Practice Template

You can map the test or code information using the Data Sets Setup practice template. Practices using NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine 8.3.x and later, can map test codes and description to guidelines using the Test Codes data set on the Data Sets Setup practice template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From File, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. On the Practice tab, select the All option. Select Data Sets Setup and then select OK .The Data Sets Setup practice template opens. Select the Data Set field and select Test Codes from the DB list. Data Sets Setup Select the Test column to sort the list by Test Name, and then review the existing mappings for the guideline. Data Sets Setup Practice Template

The Data Sets Setup practice template stores codes and text descriptions for specific tests. The test name must match the Test Name value from the Test Dates data set on the practice template. The DHPI Test Codes data set on Data Sets Setup enables you to apply synonyms for test results on the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates. The synonyms represent descriptions or codes that map to a single test or procedure. The synonyms are used to reference the test in the Protocol data set or the Test Name in the Test Date data set. The DHPI Test Code data set grid includes the following columns: Test name - used by the practice to identify an order for a diagnostic, patient procedure, or lab Codes - the code used by the reference lab or outside study/procedure location to identify the test at their location for ordering or billing purposes Description - the description for the test used by the reference lab or outside study/procedure location Add a New DHPI Test Code to a Data Set Test

Map Test or Code Information Submitted to the Procedures Module

You can map test code or code information submitted to the procedure module. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select File > System \ Practice Template > Practice tab > Show All > Data Sets Setup. Select the Data Set field and select Care Guidelines Procedure Module Codes from the DB picklist. Select the Test description column to sort the list by Guideline Name, and then review the existing mappings for the guideline. After verifying that the codes are not already present, select the Add button to open the Template Data Sets Setup – [New Record] template. Template Data Sets Select the Test description field to open the Data Set Item DB picklist. Select the name of the guideline to be mapped. If the guideline is not listed, select the top blank record, then enter the exact spelling of the guideline to be mapped. Enter the exact code for the guideline in the Procedure/SIM Code field.
