Indicators for Care Guidelines

You can view the patient's care guidelines which are due with the help of the indicators adjacent to the care guidelines link. Guidelines that are followed for the patient are listed in the left pane of the Care Guidelines Paged View and Care Guidelines templates. The Care Guidelines link initially do not indicate any guideline items for the patient. If the guideline items are due for a patient, then the indicators are visible. Home Page The care guidelines badge shows the number of care guidelines items that are due or not prescribed for the patient. The following indicators are visible: The Care Guidelines link used to open the Care Guidelines Paged View template displays a badge with a number. The number displayed on one badge may not be the same as the total numbers displayed on all the badges for guidelines listed in the left pane on both the templates. Care Guidelines Grid View Template

You can document the care guidelines details for a patient using the Care Guideline Grid View template. The Care Guidelines panel on the Care Guidelines grid view template displays the items that are due for the patient. You can view the following panels on the Care Guidelines grid view template: Care Guidelines Recent Orders Screening Questions Metrics Vital Signs Immunizations Nutrition Drug Therapy The Care Guidelines grid view template offers basic functionality for activating and tracking guidelines for the patient. You can document the diagnostic studies that are performed previously or elsewhere on the Diagnostic History Entry template using the Diagnostics link on the Care Guidelines grid view template. You can document studies completed previously or performed elsewhere and capture their LOINC® or SNOMED® codes, screening questions and a patient’s history with drug therapy using the Care Guidelines History link on the Historical Test – Quick Entry template. Care Guidelines Workflow Summary

You can overview all the information for care guidelines workflow to document the details for a patient. The workflow summary for care guidelines includes an overview of all information that can be documented or reviewed for a patient. Not all information or panels are available on both of the Care Guidelines templates and consists of following panels: Care Guidelines The Care Guidelines panel appears on both the Care Guidelines Paged View and Care Guidelines grid view templates. Current active guideline items for this patient appear on the panel. Care Guidelines Introduction

You can control the functions for a paitient using the Care Guidelines template. In NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, the Care Guidelines templates are used to handle health maintenance and disease management functions, including guideline testing and screening, and recommended care. The Care Guidelines templates are available from all the specialty template sets. CAUTION: The Care Guidelines templates are used in a clinical setting with patients. Individuals responsible for maintaining the system need to carefully review the content available on the templates. You can update the content as necessary to meet the needs of the practice. Open the Care Guidelines Template You can open the Care Guidelines template using the Care Guidelines link. Care Guidelines Paged View Template You can document the care guidelines details for a patient using the Care Guideline Paged View template. Workflow for Care Guidelines Paged View

You can use the Care Guidelines Paged View template to perform tasks for every encounter with the patient. You can manage guideline items associated with chronic conditions or health maintenance workflow in the Care Guidelines panel on the Care Guidelines Paged View template. In the Care Guidelines panel, each item that is part of an active guideline whether it is due or not, appears in a paged format. You can view different pages of active guideline items in the navigation toolbar. care_guidelines_paged_view To use the care guidelines system with a patient, you first have to activate a guideline. Then you can perform the tasks of reviewing and updating the status of individual guideline items in the Care Guidelines panel. Reviewing Care Guidelines History

You can review the history of care guidelines tests on the Care Guidelines History template. A history of care guideline tests or exams can be reviewed on the Care Guidelines History template. You can see all guideline items that are completed and no longer due. For example, the peds guideline was applied to a 14 year old patient. Once the patient reaches adulthood, and all the well visits and other tests in the guideline are completed and no longer due, the peds guideline do not appear in the Care Guidelines template. Instead, these completed guideline items are seen on the Care Guidelines History template. Care Guidelines History The Care Guidelines History template can be opened from the: Care Guidelines panel on the Care Guidelines template. Active Guidelines panel on the Activate Care Guidelines template. This template opens from the Care Guidelines panel on the Care Guidelines template.
