Before you begin
To flag encounters as sensitive, you must select the
Enable Sensitive Encounter checkbox on the
Practice Configuration template. To add data elements for the code system, you must configure the
Sensitive Encounter Configuration template. For more information on how to configure data elements, go to

- Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Select a patient record, and then create an encounter.
- In the left pane, select Problems.
The Problems module opens.
- Select Add Problem, enter the code in the search result, and select Search.
- Select the applicable SNOMED® code, and select Select.
- Open the Intake template, and then select a specialty and visit type.
- Open the Finalize template, and then add an assessment in the Today's Assessment panel.
- In the Evaluation and Management Coding panel, select a complexity level, and then select Submit Code.
The sensitive encounter flag indicator appears in the encounters list.
Note: For the SNOMED® code system, the indicator is problem specific. It is carried forward to the next encounter if the problem status is active. Encounters marked as inactive, resolved, or remission are not considered as sensitive.
