Add Orders on the Order Management Template

You can add orders from the Order Management template.

  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
  2. On the Home Page template, select the Order Management link.
    The Order Management template opens.

  3. If orders are not available in the grid, select Add.
    The My Plan template opens.
  4. If necessary, select an assessment in the Today's Assessment grid.
    The My Plan template is part of a group of templates that use the last assessment or diagnosis selected on any of the templates in the group as the working assessment. The system defaults to the current working assessment. You can select another assessment, which becomes the new working assessment that carries forward to the other templates in the group.
    The selected assessment appears in the Selected Dx field. The associated orders appear in the following order types:
    • Lab orders
    • Diagnostics
    • Office medications
    • Office procedures
    • Office labs
    • Instructions
    • Follow-up visit/referrals
  5. If the assessment is not available in the grid, select the Add Common Assessment link or select Add.
  6. Select the applicable check box associated with the orders under the order type, and select Place Order.
  7. To browse and select patient education material, select Patient Education.

    The Patient Education Browser window opens.
  8. To associate multiple diagnoses with orders for diagnostic tests (radiology studies and labs), select the Associate Diagnoses link.
    The Associate Diagnoses template opens.
  9. Select Save & Close.
    The orders placed in the My Plan or My Custom Plan template appear in the Order Management template.
  10. To view any unprocessed lab or diagnostic orders, select the Diagnostics or Lab Orders option, and then select the Unprocessed option.
  11. If the orders are unprocessed, select the Lab/Radiology Order Processing link to process the orders.
