Add a Sub-Category to a Category

In the Sub Navigation Item 2 panel, you can configure sub-categories for a category associated with an entry type. The categories are configured in the Navigational Item2 panel on the Documentation Log Config practice template.

  1. On the Documentation Log Config practice template, expand the Sub Navigation Item 2 panel.
  2. Click Entry Type and select an entry type from a list of entry types configured in the Navigation panel.
  3. Click Navigation Item 2 and select a category from a list of categories configured in the Navigation Item 2 panel.
  4. In Sub navigation item 2, enter a sub-category for the selected category.
    The sub-category updates the Short description field.
  5. If applicable, modify the Short description for the sub-category.
    The short description appears as the navigational tab in the Documentation Log panel on the practice template and on the ASC Documentation Log run-time template.
  6. To clear data from the Sub navigation item 2 and Short description fields and start over, click Clear.
  7. Click Add.

    The configured sub-category adds to the grid.

The configured sub-categories appear after you select the associated category in the second left pane in the Documentation Log panel on the Documentation Log Config practice template and in the run-time ASC Documentation Log template.
