Configure Reason for Visits

Use the Reason for Visit section in the Framework Content system template to configure the Reason for Visit items that appear in the Reason for Visit panel on the Intake and SOAP templates that are specific to your practice and specialty. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Framework Content System Template for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. In the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window appears. On the System tab, under Show, select All. Click Framework Content to open the Framework Content system template. Associate the HPI template to a specialty Click the Specialty field and select an item from the list. This associates the HPI template to that specialty. If applicable, click the Practice and/or Provider fields to select an item from the respective list to map the HPI template to a particular practice or provider. Framework Content System Template

The Framework Content system template is used to configure the reason for visit types that are specific to your practice and add the customized reasons to the top 14 links that appear in the left pane of the Reason for Visit panel. Reason for Visit Note: The top 14 reasons for visit are listed on the left. All of the reasons documented for the open encounter are listed on the right. Only Reason for Visit values that are configured to a specific specialty can be added to the top 14 reasons for visit. Add Reasons for Visit

You can configure the complaints that appear in the Reason for Visit panel by adding them to the top list on the Framework Content system template. Before including a reason for visit in the top list, ensure that it exists in the all list. Note: You can include up to 14 reasons for visit in the top list. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Framework Content system template. Select the Reason for Visit panel. Set the Filter to top. To select a reason for visit, select the field on the Reason for Visit column of the grid, and select OK.The list includes the reasons for visit from the all list, specific to the selected specialty. Select Add.The reason appears in the Reason for Visit grid and in the Reason for Visit panel on the Framework Content system template. You can configure up to 14 chief complaints in the Reason for Visit panel. Each reason for visit is linked to a history of present illness template. You can create and store those links on the Manage Custom Links practice template. Filters on Reason for Visit You can add filters when required using the Framework Content system template. Add Chief Complaints to the Reason for Visit List You can set up a chief complaint to be accessible in the Reason for Visit list. Set Up HPIs to Appear in the Reason for Visit

You can set up the History of Present Illness (HPI) to appear in the reason for visit. A practice can configure the Reason for Visit panel using the Framework Content system template. For more information on the reason for visit configuration, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Framework Content System Template for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. In the Show section, select All. To open the Framework Content template, double-click Framework Content. Select Specialty and select a specialty from the list. Expand the Reason for Visit panel. In Filter, select the all option. Select the reason for visit linked to the appropriate History of Present Illness (HPI), which you want to add to the all list in the Reason for Visit list. Reasons for Visit

The Reason for Visit appears on the left pane of the Intake-Cardiology template. You can customize the list by specialty or by provider.
