Provider Workflow for Allergy Testing

You can review the patient's medical summary details on the Home Page template and then proceed to the SOAP and Finalize templates. The provider workflow for allergy testing typically involves: Reviewing the data documented by the intake staff to obtain an overview of the patient's condition as well as updating and providing additional information as needed. Evaluating and interpreting the allergy tests performed. Place additional orders, as needed. Finalize the patient visit. Enter the Prick, ID, and Challenge Results The Prick/ID/Challenge Test panel enables providers to review and enter results for the patient's Prick, ID, and Challenge tests. Challenge Tests Panel

You can use the Challenge Tests panel to enter the administration and other test data for previously ordered challenge tests. The Type and Allergen fields in the Challenge Tests panel display lists of the ordered Challenge test allergens. Challenge Tests Panel Record Vital Signs for the Challenge Test You can document the vital signs of a patient to perform the Challenge Tests. Perform a Skin, Oral, or Medication Challenge Test You can perform a skin, oral, or medication challenge test for a patient in the Challenge Tests panel. Perform an Exercise (Treadmill) Test You can perform a treadmill test to determine how well a response of a patient's heart during a physical activity. Document Prick, ID, and Challenge Test Results

You can document interpretations for Prick, ID, and Challenge allergy tests in the Results section of the Prick/ID/Challenge panel. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Testing - Allergy template. In the Results section of the Prick/ID/Challenge Tests panel, select the appropriate Test type. The ordered allergens appear in the Results grid. Note: The system displays the first group of 20 allergens. To view each subsequent group of tests, select a group link to view the corresponding group. CAUTION: If you enter any data for a current group of allergens, you must save that data before displaying the next group of tests. NextGen® Enterprise EHR clears the fields when you select another group of tests. Enter the test results for each allergen. To indicate negative results for all allergens in the grid, select All negative. Do one of the following to record the time of Interpretation: Select the stopwatch icon for the desired field. You can order for Prick, ID, and Challenge tests in the Prick/ID/Challenge Test panel. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Testing - Allergy template. In the Orders section of the Prick/ID/Challenge Test panel, select Add. Orders section on the Prick/ID/Challenge Test template The Allergy Orders template opens. Allergy Orders Select the Description field.The diagnosis search window opens. Diagnosis search window To enter the diagnosis, do one of the following: If you have entered a diagnosis for this encounter, select Patient’s Diagnoses in the left panel. Note: The current diagnoses for the patient appear in the right panel. If you have not yet entered a patient diagnoses, select All Diagnoses in the left panel, enter a search term in the search field, and select Search. Note: A list of matching diagnoses appears in the right panel. You can test and document a patient's asthma related issues on the Testing - Allergy template. You can perform and document the results of allergy testing for the Testing Only visit type. You can use the Testing - Allergy template for the following tests: Prick test ID test Challenge test Allergen Specific IgE test Begin a Testing Only Visit You can use the Testing Only visit type for patients allergy testing only.
