Obstetric Visit Types

The Obstetric (OB) visit types are very specific to the unique requirements for billing OB and prenatal visits. Use the OB Prenatal - Initial visit type to confirm and document the beginning of a pregnancy where the prenatal record has not been initiated. You can bill for the encounter using the standard E&M codes 99201–99215. Note: Effective January 1, 2021, code 99201 will be deactivated. Use the OB Prenatal visit type for encounters where you are using the prenatal record. The application tracks each encounter during the current pregnancy with the OB Prenatal visit type on a hidden field on the Home page. You can bill prenatal visits separately if a patient obtains a new insurance plan or changes providers, and/or other complications arise. The Finalize template adds the number of prenatal encounters that have been documented for the current pregnancy and calculates the appropriate prenatal E&M code. New and Established Patients and Visit Types

There are many different E&M Service categories, such as Office Visits, Consultations, and Preventive Services. Most of these services are further categorized into New and Established patient services, where the calculation of E&M levels begins in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. To calculate an E&M code, you must select a New or Established patient designation along with a description from the Visit Type list. Most, but not all, visit types are mapped to E&M codes. This mapping is used in the overall calculation of the E&M code. For example, visit types classified as office services are mapped to sick E&M codes 99201-99215. Preventive medicine visit types are mapped to preventive medicine E&M codes 99381-99397. Select the Fracture Care Visit Type

In a fracture care visit, no E&M code is displayed in the E&M Code field. Use the Non-Billable & Initial Fracture Care grid to submit an office visit. On the Finalize Visit template, in the Non-Billable & Initial Fracture Care grid, click Fracture Care Visit. If dictation is enabled, the IORTSfinalize Po template opens. Fracture Care Workflow

Use the Fracture Care Visit templates for fracture care where an E&M code is not being calculated/billed out. There are separate templates for Single Fracture (FC Single FX) for one fracture care code, Multi FX (FC Multiple FX) for up to three fracture care codes, and Poly Trauma (FC Poly Trauma) for unlimited fracture care codes. These templates all have three panels; History, Physical Exam and Assessment and Plan. The fracture care templates are accessed by clicking the New Fracture tab and selecting the desired template. Manage the Post-Operative Global Visit to Submit Charges

You can add or remove the post-operative global visit to submit charges and finalize a visit. For a post-operative visit, the evaluation and management (E&M) code is not displayed in the field next to the E&M Key button on the Finalize Visit template. You can use the Non-Billable & Initial Fracture Care grid to add or remove an office visit. On the applicable template, click Finalize Visit in the workflow tab. The Finalize Visit template opens. To add Post-Op Global to the coding grid of the Finalize Visit template, do the following: Select Post-Op Global from the Non-Billable & Initial Fracture Care grid. The IORTSfinalize Po window opens. Visit Type

Select a visit type: NP (New Patient), Consult, or Est (Established). This is a required field. On the Billable Visit template, the Visit Type field is a required field. If the patient is not a new patient, the system suggests a Visit Type based on the last billed office visit date. Note: If the practice has configured the application to allow users to override the Visit Type, users can select a Visit Type other than the suggested ones.
