Orthopedic Patient Encounters

The Orthopedics User Guide for NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine provides an explanation and instructions on how to use the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine for Orthopedic office and virtual visit encounters, document physical exams, fracture care, and pre-operative and post-operative visits specifically for an Orthopedic patient. This document is intended for Orthopedic medical professionals, such as nurses, providers and office staff who are responsible for documenting and processing patient information. The Configuration Procedures section of this guide explains how to set up a default template for every encounter, modify the chief complaints that display in the Reason for Visit panel, configure the links on each tab, and select an alternative view for the Physical Exam data on the generated documents. Access Joint Aspiration and Injection Template

There are several options for opening the Joint Aspiration/Injection template: To open Joint Aspiration/Injection template, do one of the following: On the Intake or SOAP tab, select the Procedures link. Under Biopsy/Aspiration section, select Joint Aspiration/Injection. Open Joint Aspiration/Injection template through Intake or SOAP From the navigation bar, click the Procedures link to select Joint Aspiration/Injection from the Biopsy/Aspiration section. Joint Injection and Aspiration Template Defaults

The upper right corner of the Joint Injection/Aspiration template contains the Defaults field, along with the Right and Left checkboxes, and the Quick Load and Save default set buttons. You can use these features to expedite documentation of joint aspirations and injections. Patient Plan Data

Basic details can be selected in the Plan section of the Joint Injection/Aspiration template. A link to the My Plan template can also be used to enter additional items. Record Details for Patient's General Response

To record details for the patient’s general response to the procedures performed during the current encounter, on the Joint Aspiration/Injection template, fill in the associated fields. Patient Response section The provider can also go back after the procedure is completed to fill in the Improvement by site and % Improvement fields. Select No or Yes next to Tolerated procedure well. To specify how the patient tolerated of the procedure, do one of the following: Free text details in the Comments field. Use the My Phrases functionality. Document Detailed Consent Data for Joint Aspiration/Injection

In the Joint Aspiration/Injection template, click the Consent link to open the Consent - Procedures template. In the Provider field, click to select a name from the list. To select a description of the relationship of the consenter to the patient, do one of the following: Click the Consent by field to select a value. Click the top, blank row in the picklist to free text an entry into the field. Under Type of procedure, click the fields to enter up to three values. To document the timing of the procedure, do one of the following: Click Procedure date to select a value. Select the To be scheduled in the near future option for the procedure. If required, select the Procedure, treatment alternatives, risks and benefits were explained, specific risks discussed checkbox and then select the associated checkbox.
