You can end the pregnancy to stop a patient from being perpetually pregnant in the system.
When the outcome of a current pregnancy is unknown or not possible to follow up any longer, you can end the pregnancy to stop a patient from being perpetually pregnant in the system.
- Open a patient record where the pregnancy needs to be ended.
- On the Intake template, select Obstetrics for Specialty and then select Document Pregnancy Outcome for Visit Type.
- On the Histories template, expand the Pregnancy History panel and then select Add/Update.
The Pregnancy Outcomes template opens.
- In the Detailed Entry/Edit panel, in the Pregnancy Entry Type section, select End current pregnancy.
- Select the pregnancy number in the Pregnancy # field.
- In the Delivery type section, select Unknown (patient left the practice).
Note: This option appears only if you have selected End current pregnancy option.
- Select Add To Grid.
The information appears in the Pregnancy history grid.
- In the application message, select Yes to proceed and close the current pregnancy.
Note: If the parity automatic calculation feature is turned on for your practice, ending a current pregnancy for an unknown outcome turns off the parity automatic calculation. It remains turned off until you reconcile the parity and gravidity numbers manually for the patient.
- Select Save & Close.
