Document the Last Menstrual Period

You can document the last menstrual period in the Estimated Date of Delivery panel.

1. Select the Gestational Age tab.
   The Gestational Age- Obstetrics template opens.
2. Expand the Estimated Date of Delivery panel.
3. In the LMP field enter the LMP, if not entered.
   An EDD automatically displays to the right of the LMP field. The Consistent with LMP option is selected as the calculation method for the EDD. This EDD displays in the Initial/Working EDD field. Also, the EGA is automatically calculated and displays in the EGA this encounter field.
4. Select the Definite, Approximate (month known), or Unknown option in the LMP section.
   Note: In most practices, the intake staff enters this information and the provider would confirm or edit this information.

   The NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine calculates an EDD using sonogram results, initial exam, date of conception, or date of in vitro fertilization (IVF). In addition, you can manually enter a specific EDD. It is up to the provider to decide which EDD is most accurate for a particular patient.
