Remove a Medication from a Medication Class

You can remove the medications added to a medication class by selecting the remove links available on the Medication Classifications practice template. Select a medication class from the Medication Classes grid. Select a medication from the Medication List grid. Click Remove This Generic Med link. The medication associated with the medication class is removed from the list. You can remove the AHFS class items by selecting the Remove AHFS Class link, and the HIC3 items by selecting the Remove HIC3 link. Medication Classes

The Medication Classes grid on the left of the template displays the default medication classes available in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. The Medication List grid in the center displays the list of medications associated with a medication class. Selecting a medication class in the Medication Classes grid displays the associated medications in the Medication List grid in the center. The practice template enables you to add or remove medications associated with a medication class. These changes are specific to a practice, and do not duplicate for other practices. Note: The Medication Classifications practice template is practice specific. The updates made to the medication classes in one practice do not carry forward to other practices. Some of the Medication Classes are also used for Quality Reporting, so modifying the classes may affect the Quality Reporting reports as well. Custom DB Picklists Used with Recommended Care

You can configure recommended care guidelines on the Custom DB Picklists template. Recommended care guidelines are configured using custom DB picklists on the Custom DB Picklists Setup system template. Medication classifications are groupings of medications by similar class or utilization, such as beta blockers and anti-hypertensives. Add List Items to a DB Picklist

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the top grid, select the row of the DB picklist.The selected DB picklist details populate the Step 2 Add/Edit List Items grid. Note that: The Show selected DBPicklist option is selected to display the associated list items. The Show Only Editable Rows option displays the values of the custom DBPicklist that can be modified. Select Add New List Item link.The Get Dbpicklist Names list opens. Select the appropriate DB picklist name and select OK.Upon return to the Custom DB Picklists template, the List Item field at the bottom of the panel is enabled and ready for input. To customize the DB picklist for a specific practice, location and provider, select the relevant Practice ID, Location Name, and/or Provider Name. Associate Active Medications with Diagnoses

You can find the active medications of a patient using the Associate Medications template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Associate Medications template. Do one of the following: If you have not specified the problem and the associated medication or if you have only specified the problem in the Chronic Conditions template, then on the Associate Medications template, the All option is selected by default and the Diagnosis, ICD Code, Medication, Dx1, Dx2, and Dx3 fields are unavailable. You can view all the active medications and active diagnoses. Select a medication from the Active medications grid. Select an active diagnosis for first, second, and third diagnosis (that is, Dx1, Dx2, and Dx3) respectively from the Active diagnoses grid. If the Problem description and the associated ICD description are selected in the Chronic Conditions template, the system automatically fills the Diagnosis, ICD Code, Dx1, Dx2, and Dx3 fields. Add a Medication

Click Add under the Medications grid. The Medications Module opens. On the Medications Module, click Prescribe New. The Medication Search window opens. Type the name in the Find field. As you type additional letters, the search is refined to match what you have entered. Double-click on the medication to add it to the Selected Medications grid. If the drug has any counter indications or interactions with other medications, or specifics of how it can be purchased or prescribed, a dialog box opens for you to acknowledge those. Once you have added all medications, click Select. This enters the medications in the Medications Module. Enter the Sig, Quantity, Refills, and Start date from the corresponding list. If applicable, select the Prescribed elsewhere check box. Click Accept. Click the X in the upper right of the window to close the Medications Module.
