Patient Intake Workflow

To customize the questions to the visit type, you can turn on or turn off the following intake steps:

Consent to Use of Telehealth

You cannot turn off the following intake steps that are mandatory for all visit types:

Terms and Conditions - Displayed to users once a year.
Note: Terms and Conditions and Consent to Use are combined into one patient step when both are configured.

Managing Patient Intake

Before their virtual visit through NextGen Virtual Visits™, the patient must virtually check in and complete the intake process. For each event and appointment type, you can turn on or turn off various check-in steps and set the time limit for patients to complete the check-in process before their visit (Intake-Time-to-Entry window). Recording Patient Details in the Intake Workflow

During check-in, the intake staff can use the Intake template to document a patient details, such as the chief complaint, vital signs, medications, allergies, standing orders, and various other findings. Panel Description General To document the patient's general information. Reason for Visit To document the reasons for the patient's visit. History Summary To document the patient's past medical history, social, medical or surgical, diagnostic study, and family histories. Note: The History Summary section displays the patient history documented on the Histories template . Vital Signs To document and manage the patient's vital signs. Medications To view the patient's current medications and medication history. You can also enter additional prescriptions and reconcile the listed medications with the actual active medications. Intake Staff Workflow

The intake staff workflow involves documenting the patient encounter in the Intake and Histories templates. The information documented by the intake staff is used by the provider for reference and to proceed with the encounter. You can use the Intake template to document a patient's chief complaint, vital signs, medications, allergies, standing orders, and various other findings. Intake Template Links You can use the Intake template links to document a patient encounter on the Intake and Histories templates. Viewing the Patient's Order History You can update applicable order details. Overview of the Intake Template You can use the Intake template to document the patient information. Overview of the Histories Template You can add, update, delete, and review a patient's history summary details. Intake Sign Off

You can sign off on the Intake template, signifying that the Intake process is complete. This updates the Inbox status to Ready for provider. On the Intake template, select the Reviewed by check box. The fields automatically fill with your name and a date and time stamp. If your practice uses the pre-registration workflow, the dates that clinical 1 and clinical 2 were completed are displayed under the Reviewed by sign off section. Sign off the Intake template If you want to generate an Intake Note, click the document icon next to Intake Note. The document is added to the patient’s history for this visit. Intake Template

The intake staff uses the Intake template to document a patient's chief complaint, vital signs, medications, allergies, standing orders, and various other findings that may not have already been recorded on the Home Page - ORT template.
