Using Java 9 or greater

As documented in the Mirth Connect System Requirements, Mirth® Connect version 3.7 supports Java 8 at minimum. In order to use Java 9 or greater, you will first need to perform an extra manual step. In the Installation Directory, there should be a docs folder. Inside, there is a file called mcservice-java9+.vmoptions. This contains some extra JVM options that allow Mirth® Connect to run with Java 9 or greater without errors or warnings. Copy the contents into either the mcserver.vmoptions or mcservice.vmoptions file, depending on whether your deployment uses mcserver or mcservice. Then restart Mirth® Connect. The Mirth® Connect Server Manager

The Mirth® Connect Server Manager enables you to configure and access your Mirth® Connect Server. For Windows and Mac OS X version installations, the Mirth® Connect Server Manager application resides in the system tray (Windows) or in the Applications > Mirth Connect folder (Mac). Service Tab The Service tab provides an easy way to start, restart, stop, and refresh the service, rather than using the task scheduler or command line. Server Tab The Server tab enables you to enter details about your ports, server memory, log levels, and view log files. Database Tab The Database tab is where you can to manage Mirth® Connect's internal database. Info Tab The Info tab shows the Mirth® Connect server and Java versions as well as the server ID and a link to the NextGen Healthcare website. Parent topic: Getting Started with Mirth Connect

Mirth® Connect Administrator Overview

The Mirth® Connect Administrator is used to develop and manage all channels and can be run anywhere in relation to the Mirth® Connect server. The Mirth® Connect Administrator consists of menus and view panels that change depending on the task (for example, Dashboard, Channel, Edit Channel, Settings). Note: You no longer need to use Java Web Start. NextGen Healthcare has released a new Administrator Launcher that you can use instead. See Administrator Launcher Overview. Download the Administrator Launcher You must download the Administrator Launcher to use it to open the Administrator. Launch the Administrator After you download the Administrator Launcher, you can log on to the Mirth® Connect Administrator. Log On Use the Mirth® Connect Login window to authenticate yourself and log on to the Administrator. Install Mirth® Connect Using the Mirth Connect Installer

You can use the Mirth® Connect Installer (for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X / macOS) to install Mirth® Connect or to upgrade a previous version of the software installed on your system. You can download the Mirth® Connect Installer by logging on to your Success Community account and access the Mirth® Connect Download Central knowledge page. Mirth® Connect is also available via Docker images. See Using Docker Images for more information. Note: Graphical installer is available through the following installation files: .exe, .sh, .dmg . Changing the Database Type

By default, Mirth® Connect is configured to connect to an embedded Apache Derby database for quick deployment, development, and testing. Mirth® Connect System Requirements

The Mirth® Connect server is a fully standalone application that does not require an application server. You do not need to install a container service like Tomcat, Glassfish, etc.

The following requirements apply to any computer running the Mirth® Connect server, Command Line Interface, or Administrator.

Processor (CPU) Requirements

32-bit or 64-bit x86 processor

Note: Apple M1 and M2 processors are currently not fully supported.

Java Requirements
Mirth® Connect is written in Java and runs on any system capable of running a Java virtual machine.
Database Requirements
The Mirth® Connect Server requires a database for configuration and message storage.
