Set Up Locations for an Event

The Locations tab on the Add Event or Edit Event window is used when appointments for a specific event should only be scheduled at specific locations. For example, when a Procedure event is scheduled with a provider, it should always be scheduled at one of the two locations that have a procedure room available. When attempting to schedule an appointment for an event at an invalid location, a scheduling conflict is generated. The appointment can only be scheduled if the user has security access rights to override appointment conflicts. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Admin > Scheduling Admin. Note: When you select the Enable Enterprise Appointment Scheduling option in Practice Preferences window, the Scheduling Admin option on the Admin menu displays the following two options: Enterprise Practice The Scheduling Administration window opens. Set Up Default Resources for an Event

The Default Resources tab on the Add Event or Edit Event window is used when an appointment for a specific event should always default onto one or more schedules in addition to the resource for which the appointment is already being scheduled. For example, when a Procedure event is scheduled with a provider, the appointment should also default onto the schedules for the Nurse resource and the Procedure Room resource. Note: It is important to understand that in addition to the resource selected when an appointment for the event is scheduled, the appointment will also be scheduled with all default resources. In other words, if there are two default resources defined for an event, the appointment will be scheduled for three resources. Set Up Limits for an Event

The Limits tab on the Add Event or Edit Event window is used when you want to limit the number of appointments that can be scheduled in a day for an event. The limits are defined per resource and can be by the day of the week or by a specific date. When a resource has reached their daily appointment limit for the event, the following apply: When attempting to schedule another appointment on that day for the event and resource, a scheduling conflict is generated. The appointment can only be scheduled if the user has security access rights to override appointment conflicts. When using the Appointment Search Ahead window to schedule an appointment for the event, the search results do not find or display appointment time slots for resources who have reached their daily limit. Set Up SIMs for an Event

The SIMs tab on the Add Event or Edit Event window is used when an appointment for a specific event should always default one or more charges on the Charge Posting window for the encounter created from the appointment. For example, when a Post Op event is scheduled with a provider, SIM code 99024 should default when posting charges to the encounter created from the appointment. A message appears during the charge posting process stating that the charge is pre-loaded because of the linked encounter's appointment events. You can accept, reject, or cancel the pre-loaded charge. Select the Default to encounter and Effective Date options in the Appt Event SIM Carryover section of Practice Preferences > Chart. Note: It is important to understand that when multiple SIM codes are associated to an event, all SIMs codes default during charge posting. Add or Modify an Event

The Add Event or Edit Event window includes general information about the event in the section at the top, and tabs for more specific information about the event at the bottom. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Admin > Scheduling Admin. Note: When you select the Enable Enterprise Appointment Scheduling option in Practice Preferences window, the Scheduling Admin option on the Admin menu displays the following two options: Enterprise Practice The Scheduling Administration window opens. Select the Events tab. Do one of the following: To add an event, select the open menu button and select New. To modify an event, select an event in the list, select the open menu button and select Open. The Add Event or Edit Event window opens. In the Event field, enter a name for the event. The name appears on the Add Appointment or Edit Appointment window in the Event or Event Chain field when you schedule an appointment for the event.
