Make UDS Fields Available for Enterprises
The Uniform Data System (UDS) fields are used only for UDS reporting. When UDS fields are available, the UDS tab is displayed in the Add/Modify Patient Information window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM. In this tab, users can select the appropriate UDS values for each person/patient. You can configure the fields on the UDS tab to be mandatory for users. Note: If certain UDS fields are set as mandatory, you should create an appropriate item in the corresponding master list table to use when the field does not apply to a person or patient. For example, if tribal affiliation is required but a person or patient has no tribal affiliation, you can create and use a master list item such as No Affiliation. The Consent To Treat checkbox and the Consent To Treat Date field on the UDS tab cannot be required. The head of household can be required only when users modify a patient chart. When the Head of Household field is required, users must first select a head of household

Users can then access the tab to select the appropriate UDS values for each person/patient. UDS fields are enabled at the enterprise level. Therefore, if enabled, the UDS tab displays on the Add/Modify Patient Information window in all practices within the enterprise. Requiring UDS Fields UDS fields can be set up to be required at either the enterprise level or at the practice level. If required at the enterprise level, users in all practices in the enterprise must enter data in the UDS fields for all persons (globes) and all patients (charts) when the demographic record is created for a person/patient. If required at the practice level, there are two points at which users in the practice must enter data in the UDS fields; either when an appointment is scheduled for a person/patient, or when the chart is created for a
