Print an Itemized Bill from the Patient Chart

An Encounter Bill can be printed for a patient from their chart. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Chart. The Patient Lookup window opens. Select the desired patient, and then select Open. The Patient Chart opens for the desired patient. Select the Encounters tab. Select the encounter. Do one of the following: Right-click the encounter, select Print, and then select Encounter Bill. From the Tasks menu, select Demand, and then select Demand Itemized Bill. The Itemized Bill for Encounter window opens. Review the default Itemized Bill Options and make modifications, if needed. Note: The default settings are from Practice Preferences > Itemized Bills. Select Preview to preview the encounter bill on the window prior to printing. Select Print to print the encounter bill. The encounter bill is automatically sent to the printer defined in Practice Preferences > Printing. If the user has specified a different printer in their General User Preferences > Printing, it overrides the printer defin

You can print individual and batch itemized bills from the following areas in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Print an Itemized Bill from the Check-in or Check-out AutoFlow

You can print an encounter bill for a patient during the check-in auto-flow process, or the check-out auto-flow process, or both. Note: The Encounter Bill window item must be included in the AutoFlow Sequences master file in File Maintenance for check-in and/or check-out. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Appointment Book. Right-click an appointment, and then select Checkin/Create Encounter or Checkout. Open the Checkin or Checkout auto-flow sequence for the desired appointment or encounter. Select the AutoFlow button to advance to the Encounter Bill step in the sequence. The Itemized Bill for Encounter window opens. Review the default Itemized Bill Options and make modifications, if needed. Note: The default settings are from Practice Preferences > Itemized Bills. Print Itemized Bills from Encounter Lookup

One or more encounter bills can be printed for patients from the Encounter Lookup window. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the main toolbar, select the Encounter button. The Encounter Lookup window opens. Enter the Search Criteria fields to locate the desired encounter. Select Find. Encounters that match the search criteria display in the Encounter List section of the window. Select Encounter List, and then select the encounter. Right-click the encounter, and then select Print. Select Encounter Bill. The Itemized Bill for Encounter window (individual) or the Itemized Bills window (batch) appears. Review the default Itemized Bill Options and make modifications, if needed. Note: The default settings are from Practice Preferences > Itemized Bills. Select Preview to preview the encounter bills on the window prior to printing. Itemized Bills

Itemized Bills, also known as Encounter Bills or Encounter Invoices, are like statements, they include charge and transaction (payment, adjustment, refund) only for a single encounter. They are typically printed on demand as needed. An itemized bill is used to replace a hand-written receipt for a patient payment received on an encounter. If a patient has an appointment today, they pay their co-pay at check-in, and enter the transaction as an encounter unapplied credit. You can print an encounter bill at check-in and give it to the patient as a receipt showing their payment. The encounter bill can also be printed later at check-out, after charges are entered and their unapplied co-pay from check-in is applied to a charge. At this point the encounter bill shows today’s charges in addition to the patient’s payment at check-in. You can also use an itemized bill as a means of billing a patient for an outstanding self-pay balance on an encounter. If a patient has an appointment today and is
