Removing an Appointment

To remove an appointment from the schedule, you can either Cancel the appointment, or Delete the appointment. Both canceled and deleted appointments retain a record in the patient's chart and are available on reports. When you cancel an appointment, you are prompted to select an Appointment Cancellation Reason. This is useful for tracking the various reasons that appointments are canceled. When you cancel the appointment, it is removed from the schedule and the appointment status changes to canceled. When you delete an appointment, you are not prompted to select an Appointment Cancellation Reason. When you cancel the appointment, it is removed from the schedule. The appointment status does not change, but the appointment now has a deleted indicator. Linking Appointments

You can link appointments together for a patient. This helps you to manage all the appointments for the patient as part of a group. For example, a patient may have three appointments on the same day at the same location with different resources. Linking appointments enables you to do the following: Confirm all linked appointments at the same time. Check-in all linked appointments at the same time. Create a single encounter for all linked appointments. Print a single fee ticket for all linked appointments. Cancel all linked appointments at the same time. Note: Appointments with the status of Expected, Pending, or No Show can be linked together. Link Multiple Appointments You can link multiple appointments to a patient’s current appointment. View Linked Appointments You can view the appointments that are linked to a patient's current appointment. Link Multiple Appointments

You can link the future appointments to the current appointment of the patient from the History tab of the Edit Appointment window. Open the Appointment Book window. Open an appointment to be linked to other appointments. The Edit Appointment window opens. Select the History tab. From the list of appointments, select the appointments to be linked to the current appointment. Select OK to save changes and close the window. Parent topic: Linking Appointments

Unlink Appointments

You can unlink the future appointments that are linked to the patient's current appointment from the History tab of the Edit Appointment window. Open the Appointment Book window. Open an appointment that is linked to other appointments. The Edit Appointment window opens. Select the History tab. You can view the appointments linked to the current appointment. Clear the selection for the appointments to be unlinked from the current appointment. Select OK to save changes and close the window. Parent topic: Linking Appointments

Confirm Multiple Appointments

When you confirm an appointment for a patient, if the patient has multiple appointments either on the same day or in the future with other appointments, a message appears asking you to confirm all the appointments at the same time. For example, a patient with three same day appointments with the nurse, doctor, and lab, can have all three confirmed at the same time. Open the Appointment Book window. Open an appointment to be confirmed. The Edit Appointment window opens. Select the Confirmed option. Select OK to save changes and close the window. If the patient has other on the same day or future appointments, the Confirm Appointment window opens. Note: Following are the options available on the Confirm Appointment window: The Linked Appointments section displays a list of appointments that are linked to the appointment that you confirmed. Cancel Multiple Appointments

When you cancel an appointment for a patient who has multiple appointments, either on the same day or future, you can cancel all appointments at the same time if needed. For example, if a patient has three appointments on the same day, you can cancel all three at the same time. Open the Appointment Book window. Select an appointment to be canceled. Do one of the following: Right-click the appointment and select Mark as Canceled. Open an appointment and select the Cancelled option on the Edit Appointment window. Note: A window opens asking the reason for cancellation of the appointment if you select the Track Cancellation reason option in the Appt Scheduling tab of the Practice Preferences window. From the list of reasons, select the reason for canceling the appointment. Select OK to save changes and close the window.
