About the Ins Cards Tab in Insurance Maintenance

The Ins Cards tab on the Insurance Maintenance window allows you to capture images of the front and back of the insurance card. Card images can be acquired using a scanner or captured using a digital camera. A pushpin icon on the tab indicates one or more insurance cards exist for the payer. Scan Patient Insurance Cards

You can scan both the front and back of a card using a duplex scanner. Note: A duplex scanner is not required, but is highly recommended for accuracy. A duplex scanner is not required, but highly recommended for accuracy. You can scan and record images of one or more insurance cards for the patient. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup . The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and then select Find. Patient records that match the search criteria appear in the Matching Records section. Select the patient, and then select Open. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. The encounters associated with the patient appear in the Encounters section. Select the Insurance tab and then select the encounter from the Encounters section. Right-click the selected insurance under the Encounter Insurance section, and then select Open. The Insurance Maintenance window opens. Select Scan.

Add Insurance and Financial Information to Patient Encounters

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart, and then in Patient Lookup, enter your search criteria, and then select Find. Matching people and patient records appear in the search results. In Matching Records, select a patient record , and then select Open. The Patient Information tab opens in the Patient Chart window. Select the Encounters tab, and then select the Insurance tab. In Encounters, select an encounter, and then in Encounter Insurance, right-click a listed insurance, and then select Open. You can also open the Insurance Maintenance window by right-clicking the added payer. Note: To add manual referrals on Insurance Maintenance, you must configure the practice preferences to view Referral Required checkbox on Insurance Maintenance. You can also scan the patient insurance card in Insurance Maintenance. Add Patient Insurance in NextGen® Enterprise PM

If you are not using the Insurance Writeback integration, you must manually update the patient insurance information using the insurance details collected during pre-visit workflows in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Open your Luma Dashboard. To view the pre-visit and appointment details, select Schedule, and then select the check mark icon on the corresponding appointment slot. The insurance cards appear. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM, and then select ApptBook. In the Scheduler Book window, open the corresponding appointment. In the Edit Appointment window, select the menu icon, and then select Lookup. The Update Patient Information window opens. In the Demographics tab of the Insurance Listing section, select the menu icon, and then select New Insurance. The Payer Lookup window opens. Search for the payer and select Find, and then double-click the necessary payer from Payer List. Add Insurance Verification Information to an Encounter

You can enter additional information for an insurance linked to an encounter in the Patient Insurance - Encounter window. This applies to primary, secondary, and tertiary payers. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup.. The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and select Find. Patient records that match the search criteria, appear in the Matching Records section. Select the patient, and then select Open. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. From the Encounters list, select an encounter with a payer attached. Select the Insurance tab. In the Encounter Insurance section, select the payer. In the Verification section, select open record . Add Insurance for Patients and Persons

You can add insurance information for a patient or other person by using the Insurance Maintenance window. The system administrator manages the list of insurers in File Maintenance in the Payers master file. From the main toolbar in NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Chart. In the Patient Lookup window, enter search criteria, and then select Find. In Matching Records, right-click the patient record, and then select Open.The Demographics tab opens in the Modify Patient Information window. In Insurance Listing, select the open menu icon, and then select New Insurance. In the Payer Lookup window, enter search criteria for the payer, and then select Find. In Payer List, double-click the applicable payer. In the Insurance Maintenance window, select the Detail tab, and then enter the health insurance claim or policy number in HIC/Policy Nbr.
