Encounters Pending Bad Debt Report

When the Bad Debt Process is run, the Encounters Pending Bad Debt report is generated. This report can be used to show what patients have been pre-listed for collections. To generate the report, select File > Processes > Bad Debt > Preview The report lists out encounters sorted by collection agency. The report is totaled and filtered by amount being pre-listed and unposted amounts. Some columns are not displayed by default for this report. Since it is a system report, the report filter does not display before the report is generated. To display columns that won't default, you must open the report filter after the report is generated, select the columns you want on the report, and select OK. NextGen Healthcare recommends that you preview and print the Encounters Pending Bad Debt report before running the Bad Debt process. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the File menu, select Processes, and then Bad Debt. The Agency Bad-Debt Process window opens. Select the Collection Agency to include the pre-listed encounters in the report. Note: All the collection agencies are selected by default. Clear one or more agencies if they are not to be included on the report. Select the effective date for pre-listed encounters to be included in the report. The default is the current system date and it can be changed if needed. All encounters with a pre-list effective date on or before the date appear on the report. To continue without previewing the report, select OK. A message appears stating that you are about to change the encounter status to bad debt. To continue, select Yes. Bad Debt Process

When you move one or more encounters on a guarantor's account to bad debt, there is no need to adjust balances off from the Accounts Receivable (A/R). NextGen® Enterprise PM maintains a Regular A/R and a Bad Debt A/R. Before encounters can be moved to a Bad Debt status, they must first be added to a pre-list, which means the encounters are placed on the Encounters Pending Bad Debt report. When encounters on the report are reviewed and approved for collections, the pre-listed encounters are then processed for Bad Debt, and any outstanding balances are transferred to the Bad Debt A/R. To save a copy of the report, do one of the following: To print the report, select Print Report. To export the report to the Excel file and save to a network directory folder, select Export to Excel.
