Void a Charge with No Transactions

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the patient and encounter. Select a charge that you want to void. Do one of the following: Select Void. Right-click and then select Void. A message appears stating that if you void the charge, the charge cannot be reversed. To void the charge, select OK. In the charge ledger, the voided charge is now crossed-out. The original charge amount and quantity are reversed using a system-generated Void Charge adjustment transaction code. The reversed amount appears in the Adjustment column of the ledger. To view the system-generated transaction, right-click on the charge and then select Expand All. A row appears below the voided charge showing the Void Charge adjustment transaction code and the voided amount in the Pat Amt column. View a Voided Charge from the Patient Chart

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Chart. The Patient Lookup window opens. Select the patient, and then select Find. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. Void a Charge with Contract Auto-Adjustments

If there is a contract auto-adjustment on a charge, then you can void the charge and the auto-adjustment will be reversed. The contract auto-adjustment transactions are reversed regardless of the Allow Sign Override setting in the File Maintenance. Open the Charge Posting window for the desired encounter. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the encounter, and then select the charge with auto-adjustments. To void the charge, do one of the following: Select the Void button. Right-click the charge, and then select Void. A message appears stating that the charge has an auto adjustment and transactions applied. If voided, the charge cannot be reversed. To reverse the auto-adjustments and void the charge, select OK. Voiding Charges

You can void the processed charge from the encounter on the Charge Posting window. A voided charge remains on the encounter. The original charge amount and quantity are automatically reversed. You cannot void a processed charge with an unposted transaction. You must remove the transaction if you want to void the charge. You can void a processed charge with a posted transaction. The posted transaction results in a credit balance on the voided charge. The Void button on the Charge Posting window is available for the following: Processed charges with no transactions. Processed charges with auto-adjustments. Processed charges with posted transactions. Note: When you void a charge, tax charges are also voided. Undo Automatic Adjustments On Encounters

Before you begin You must have the necessary permission to reverse the applied charges. You can reverse automatic charge adjustments from outdated contracts in the following scenarios: The charge has automatic adjustments applied from a contract. The contract allowed amount for the charge line has been updated for the encounter period. The encounter is unbilled, billed, rebilled, and archived. The charge's date of service falls within the CPT® -4 effective period as defined in the contract's fee schedule. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart, and then in Patient Lookup, enter your search criteria, and then select Find. Matching people and patient records appear in the search results. In Matching Records, select a patient record , and then select Open. The Patient Information tab opens in the Patient Chart window.
