Add or Remove Columns in the Encounter Lookup Results

The columns displayed in the Encounter List section of the Encounter Lookup window can be customized by each user. Right-click any column header. The menu lists all columns available for the window. Columns included in the current view display with a check mark icon. Do one of the following: To add a column to the view, select to select a column name without a check mark. To remove a column from the view, select to deselect a column name with a check mark. To save changes and close the window, select OK. Note: Use the table in Encounter List Columns as a reference when making column selections. Encounter List Columns You can search for existing encounters and the search results display encounter list columns. Encounter Lookup Search Criteria

The following table lists the fields in the Search Criteria area of the Encounter Lookup window and their descriptions. Field Description Bill Status To find encounters with a specific status, select one or more of the following statuses: <none> or blank (includes all statuses) Bad Debt Billed History In Progress Rebill Unbilled Note: The In Progress check box appears only if the Enable In Progress billing status option is selected in Practice Preferences. Financial Class To find encounters with a primary payer assigned to a specific financial class, select one or more financial classes. Enc Nbr To find a specific encounter, enter the encounter number. Billable Dt From To find encounters within a specific Billable Date range, enter a start date. Pulls from the Billable Date field on the Encounter Maintenance window. Billable Date To To find encounters within a specific billable date range, enter an end date. Pulls from the Billable Date field on the Encounter Maintenance window. Render

Search from the Encounter Lookup Window

To access the Encounter Lookup window, do one of the following: From the main toolbar, select Encounter. From the Tasks menu, select Lookup and then Encounters. The Encounter Lookup window opens. Enter details in the Search Criteria to find the desired encounters. You can use multiple parameters to search, like Bill Status, Billable Date Range, Rendering Physician, or Service Location. Select Find. Encounters that match the search criteria entered display in the Encounter List section at the bottom of the window. Total Encounter Balances displays the total outstanding balance for all encounters listed. Records Found displays the total number of encounters listed. From the Encounter List, do one of the following: Double-click to select an encounter. The Patient Chart > Encounters tab opens. The selected encounter is highlighted in the Encounters list on the left. Right-click an encounter and select Open from the menu. The Encounter Maintenance window opens. Sort the Appointment Lookup Results

In the Appointment List section of the Appointment Lookup window, the appointments are sorted using the Date/Time column in ascending order by default. To change the sort, select any column header. An up arrow icon appears above the column name, indicating that the appointments are now sorted by the selected column in ascending order. To sort the appointments using the same column in descending order, select the column header again. A down arrow icon appears above the column name, indicating that the appointments are now sorted by the selected column in descending order. Note: After you close the Appointment Lookup window and open it again, the appointments are sorted using the Date/Time column in ascending order by default. Sort Encounter Summary Data

You can sort the components in the display section by specialty, style sheets, and stored procedures alphabetically. Select the name of the column to sort by: Specialty Stored Procedure Style Sheet The components are sorted alphabetically. After you select the column name, an up or down arrow appears to change the display order. To reverse the order for a column, select the up or down arrow in it. Sort Lookup Results

The default sorting for the lookup results is by Name in ascending order. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, do one of the following to open the Patient Lookup window: On the main toolbar, select Chart. From the Tasks menu, select Lookup > Charts. Patient Lookup Window Enter the details in the Search Criteria fields to find the desired person or patient. You can use multiple parameters. For example, you can enter part of the last and first names, and birth date. Note: Fields with the Lightning Bolt indicator are for direct match searches and cannot be used with other search criteria. Select Find. All existing person and patient records that match the search criteria appear in Matching Records. To change the sorting order, select any column header. An up arrow icon appears next to the column name, indicating the lookup results are sorted by that column in ascending order. To sort by the same column in descending order, select the column header again. A down arrow icon appears next to the column
