Claim Modifiers Library

The Claim Modifiers library can be used by practices when the modifier usage differs from payer to payer. During charge posting, add units to a charge when a specific modifier is entered on the charge for specific SIM types. During the billing process, add a modifier to the claim if the modifier was not entered on the charge. During the billing process, remove a modifier from the claim if the modifier was entered on the charge. Note: For a claim modifier to be applied, the charge service date must fall within the effective date and expiration date defined for the modifier, and the charge must meet all Modifier Change for Claims criteria defined for the modifier. The practice-level default Claim Modifiers library selected in Practice Preferences > Libraries is used for all payers. A payer-level library selected in the Libraries sub-tab under the Practice tab in the Payers master file overrides the practice-level library for that payer. Set Up CPT Codes in Service Items Library

Within the Service Items library, you can set up CPT4 codes for each practice, along with prices, and claim form designations. You can also group Service Items together under one main number or name. Libraries are available enterprise-wide, but each practice must designate which Service Items library to use by selecting it in the Libraries Practice Preferences. Before you begin Each practice must designate which Service Items library to use by selecting it in Practice Preferences. Open File Maintenance and then select Libraries > Service Items. The Service Items List window opens. Select the open menu button to add or open an existing Service Item library. The Service Item Library Maintenance window opens. Set Up Anesthesia SIMs

Before you can use anesthesia billing, service items billed as anesthesia services must be designated as anesthesia SIMs. You must also designate the appropriate claim form type and the number of base units. In File Maintenance, select Libraries and then Service Items. The Service Items Libraries window opens. Double-click the appropriate service item library. The Service Item Library Maintenance window opens. Under Service Item #, select the open menu button, and then select New. Enter an applicable name for the new anesthesia SIM, in the Description field. In the CPT4 Code field, select or enter the correct CPT4 code. On the General tab, complete the following fields. Field Description Form Select the 1500 or UB claim form type for the selected SIM. Note: Anesthesia billing is not supported for ADA claims in NextGen® Enterprise PM.
