Rebill an Encounter using Balance Control

Encounters that have already been billed to insurance can be rebilled for a variety of reasons. For example, a new charge can be added to the encounter, an existing charge can be corrected and modified, or insurance has not responded to the initial claim. Balance Control is used to flag one or more charges on an encounter to be rebilled to insurance. To flag all the charges to be rebilled, do the following: Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the desired patient and encounter, and then select the Balance Control icon. The Balance Control window opens. Right-click in the R (Release to Bill) column for the payer to be rebilled. Select Select All Ins. All line items show check mark in the R (Release to Bill) column, the encounter status changes to Rebill, and the Rebill Encounter check box is automatically selected. Resizing the Add or Edit Appointment Window

You can change the size and position of the Add Appointment or Edit Appointment window as needed. When you make changes to the window, the changes are saved to your desktop settings and it remains the same when you open the window again. You can resize the window as follows: Resize the window from the top or bottom to adjust the height to eliminate up or down scroll bars. Resize the window from the left or right to adjust the width to eliminate left or right scroll bars and display more information on the side tabs. Resize the window from any corner to adjust height and width. Resize and rearrange columns on the side tabs. Move the window to dock the form on the window. Balance Control

Balance Control performs the following: Rebill encounter Reorder encounter insurances Add encounter insurance Reassign encounter balances Prorate charge balances Note: Access to Balance Control is dependent on security access rights in System Administrator > Group Rights > Modules > Transactions > Balance Control. If you attach the initial Balance Control for an unbilled encounter with primary and secondary insurances and enter the charges on the encounter, all charges are flagged with a check mark on the R (Release to Bill) column for billing to primary insurance. The patient is responsible for a co-pay amount on the first charge, and primary insurance is responsible for the remaining charge balances. When the encounter has gone through the billing process and a claim is successfully created for the primary insurance, the check marks on the R (Release to Bill) column disappear. Desktop Settings

In NextGen® Enterprise PM, you can resize windows and reposition them on your screen. For example, you can make the Add Appointment window larger or smaller and move it to the right or left side of the screen. You can also customize the order and width of columns on some windows. For example, on the Appointment Lookup window, you can add or remove columns in the Appointment List section and change the order and width of the columns. The changes you make in NextGen® Enterprise PM are saved to your desktop settings, and your customizations appear whenever you open a window. A Reset Desktop Settings option is available to undo your customizations and reset all windows to their original default settings. Reset Desktop Settings

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Right-click the main toolbar and select Reset desktop settings. The NextGen window opens for your confirmation of the desktop settings reset. Select Yes. Report Toolbar Buttons

The following table describes each button available on the report toolbar in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Button Description Print Report: Select to print the report. Note: The report is sent to the default printer defined in Practice Preferences > Printing. If the user has specified a different printer in their General User Preferences > Printing, it overrides the printer defined in Practice Preferences. Anesthesia Audit Print Options: Select to view and modify the Anesthesia Audit Print Options. Note: Default settings can be defined in General User Preferences > Anes Printing tab. Preview Report: Select to view a print preview of the report. Memorize Report: Select to memorize and save the current report configuration for future use. The Memorize Report window appears. Enter a name and select a report type for the memorized report, and then select the OK button. Memorized reports are accessed from the Reports button on the main toolbar, or from the Reports menu in NextGen® Enterprise PM.
