Enter an Encounter Payment

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Posting . The Batch Posting window opens. Double-click the batch header record. The Payment Entry window opens. Payment Entry Window Enter the desired payment information. Select Save. Components of the Payment Entry Window You have to enter the payment information before posting a payment. Enter an Invoice Payment

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Posting . The Batch Posting window opens. Double-click the batch header record. The Payment Entry window opens. In Src/Acct, select Invoice. In Invoice, select . The Account List window appears. Account List window To search for an invoice, enter the search criteria data, and then select Find. Invoices that match the search criteria appear in the Account List section of the Account List window. Double-click an invoice. The invoice charges appear in the Payment Entry window. In Pay Amt, enter the payment amount. Account Payment displays in Pay Code. In Adj Amt, enter an adjustment amount. Account Adjustment appears in Adjustment Code. Select Recalc, and then select Save. Enter a Transaction for an Account

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Posting . The Batch Posting window opens. Double-click the batch header record. The Payment Entry window opens. In Source/Acct, select Account. In Account, enter the first few letters of the account name or select Account Lookup . Account records matching the search criteria appear in the Account list. Note: A status indicator for the data retrieval appears for an account with more than 100 line items. Large Account mode activates when more than 1000 items are retrieved and displayed. For more information on the number of line items displayed in the Large Account mode or modifying the number of line-items, contact NextGen Healthcare Support. Double-click the desired account. In Pay Amt, enter the payment amount. NextGen Healthcare displays Account Payment as the pay code. If necessary, enter an adjustment amount in the Adj Amt field. Managing Account Level Payment Receipts

You can print an on-demand account level receipt Summarize the current payment that was entered and saved on for an account in the Payment Entry window. View the total payment amount, total for each patient, encounter number, and amount applied to each encounter in the Account Summary window for unapplied payments. Note: At the account level, when the payment is partially utilized on an encounter and the remaining balance is unapplied at the account level, then the receipt displays the payment line and the amount applied to each encounter. Receive a Secondary Payer Payment before the Primary Payer

When the first payment on an account is from a secondary payer, NextGen® Enterprise PM processes the payment and checks to see if in the Transactions list of the Practice Preferences window, the Use settled up status options selected. When the Use settled up status is selected, the remaining dollar are settled to the patient, and NextGen® Enterprise PM displays the following message after posting the payment to the secondary payer: Note: NextGen Healthcare recommends that you select the Use settled up status. When the Use settled up status option is not selected and a secondary insurance payment is selected as the first payment on a patient's account, then a negative balance is created in the Ins2 bucket and a default settlement status of None appears in the Payment Entry window. Managing Encounter Level Payment Receipts

You can generate encounter level receipts to summarize all the transactions and payments for a given encounter. You can configure the desired options for encounter level payments receipts using the Itemized Bills under Practice Preferences with the following options: Default header and footer messages Auto produce itemized bill when billing self pays Suppress printing charge zero balance itemized bills Display SIM codes or CPT codes Show unposted payments Suppress voided charges Suppress transaction activity User time stamp Encounter level receipts can be distinguished by Encounter Invoice at the top and bottom of the invoice.
