Managing Demographic Information

On the Demographics tab, you can enter general information for a person or patient, such as address, demographics, contact phone numbers, contact, insurance, and notification methods for the patient. If your practice is licensed for EDI, the link appears on this window. When you select the link, the EDI Messaging window opens where you can view the patient's notification preferences for balance reminders, appointment reminders, and recall plans. Information on the Demographics tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient. Creating Patient Charts

An individual added to NextGen® Enterprise PM without a chart is known as a person. A person may be someone with an existing appointment, an account guarantor, insurance subscriber, or an emergency contact. A person is allocated a unique identifier and stored in the Master Person Index (MPI) which is shared by all individuals within an enterprise system. When you create a chart for a person in a practice, the person qualifies as a patient. Only the practice that creates the patient chart, has access to it. A patient associated with multiple practices has a single demographic record that can be shared with all other practices using MPI. Managing Provider Information

The Provider tab appears only when one or more custom User Defined Patient Provider fields have been created in Practice Preferences. Up to 12 patient provider fields can be set up and then used to collect additional provider information for a person or patient. Information on the Provider tab is stored at the practice level; therefore, each practice can enter and maintain different information for a person or patient. Managing Chart Details

On the Chart Details tab, you can enter additional information for a patient's chart in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The tab includes up to 8 user defined fields that can be set up in Practice Preferences and then used to collect patient information that is not already a standard field within the application. The tab also includes default rendering and referring providers, and marketing plan information for the patient. The information is saved for established patients with an existing chart, and for new patients when the chart is created. Information on the Chart Details tab is stored at the practice level; therefore, each practice can enter and maintain different information for a patient. On the Privacy tab, you can enter information for a patient related to the practice’s HIPAA Privacy Notice. The information is saved for established patients with an existing chart, and for new patients when the chart is created.
