Search for a Person or Patient

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the Tasks menu, select Lookup > Charts. The Patient Lookup window opens. To search for a patient, enter the search criteria data. You can use different combinations of the search criteria to search for a patient. Select Find. People and patient records that match the search criteria, appear in the display in the Matching Records section. NextGen® Enterprise PM displays different icons for persons, patients, and patients enrolled in Enterprise Chart. The globe People icon icon indicates people who do not have a chart. The folder Patient icon icon indicates people or patients with a chart. The folder with a small globe People or Patients with an enterprise chart icon indicates people or patients enrolled in Enterprise Chart. Patient Lookup Window Note: To prevent creation of duplicate records, it is suggested to use a different criteria for performing the patient search if the desired person or patient is not found. Create Patient Charts

The patient or person lookup search results includes both patients and persons. To set up a person as a patient, you must create a chart for the person using the Create Encounter window. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM, and then select Chart or Chart Lookup The Patient Lookup window opens. Select New. The Add Patient Information window opens. Modify Patient Information- Encounte Enter the details in the required fields that appear in red color and any additional information you want to include for the person. Add or Modify People to Contact in Patient Charts

Open the Person Information or Patient Information window for the desired person or patient. Select the Relations/Role tab. In Contact, select the open record icon. In the Contact Lookup window, enter search criteria, and then select Find.People who match the search criteria entered are displayed in the Matching Records list. In Matching Records, double-click an existing contact, or select New to add a record for the contact. In the Modify Contact Information window, add or update information as needed. In Relationship, select the contact's relationship to the patient. Note: The items you can select are obtained from the Relationships code table in File Maintenance. Select OK. Add Relationships to Patient Records

Open the Person Information or Patient Information window for the desired person or patient. Select the Relations/Role tab. In Relationship, select the open menu icon, and then select New. In the Relationship Lookup window, enter search criteria, and then select Find.People who match the search criteria are displayed in the Matching Records list. Creating Patient Charts

An individual added to NextGen® Enterprise PM without a chart is known as a person. A person may be someone with an existing appointment, an account guarantor, insurance subscriber, or an emergency contact. A person is allocated a unique identifier and stored in the Master Person Index (MPI) which is shared by all individuals within an enterprise system. When you create a chart for a person in a practice, the person qualifies as a patient. Only the practice that creates the patient chart, has access to it. A patient associated with multiple practices has a single demographic record that can be shared with all other practices using MPI. Customize Matching Records columns

Action Description Auto Size Colums Select a column header, then right-click and select Auto Size Column, or select any column header, then right-click and select Auto Size All Columns. Rearrange Columns Select the header of a column to be moved, then drag the column to the left or right to drop the column in the desired position. Add/ Remove Colums Right-click any column header, then select on a description in the list to select (add) or deselect (remove) the column.
