Estimation Results in Patient Charts

On the Clinical History/Notes tab in a patient's chart, you can select Topics > Estimation Results . Estimation Results displays the cost estimates done for the patient. When a chart is created for a person and the person becomes a patient in the practice, the patient's completed estimates as well as the newly submitted estimates are displayed in the estimation results. Note: The estimation results do not display the estimates for a person without a chart. The estimation results display the following cost estimation details. Cost Estimation for a Patient

In NextGen® Enterprise PM, a patient is a record that has a chart created in the practice and is denoted by . A chart includes the clinical and financial details related to the patient's encounters in the practice. A person can become a patient in the practice when a chart is created for the person. A patient record that has an account in the practice is denoted by . You can search for and find a patient in the practice on the Patient Lookup window. You can open the Patient Lookup window by selecting Chart on the toolbar or selecting Tasks > Lookup > Charts. You can use the search criteria to find the desired patient. To open the Estimate Patient Cost window, you can right-click the specific patient and select Estimate Patient Cost. If you initiate cost estimation for a patient using the Patient Lookup window, the following information is displayed. Estimating Patient Cost

In NextGen® Enterprise PM, the Estimate Patient Cost window enables you to specify the inputs required for calculating the patient and insurance responsibility amounts for services planned or rendered. You can initiate cost estimation from: The People Lookup window for a person. The Patient Lookup window for a patient. The Appointment Lookup window or the appointment book for an appointment or event. The Encounter Lookup window or the Encounters tab on the Patient Chart window for an encounter. The Estimation Results in the Clinical History/Notes tab on the Patient Chart window. When you initiate the cost estimation, the Estimate Patient Cost window opens: Every time you specify and submit data on the Estimate Patient Cost window, a new cost estimation record will be created with a unique cost estimation ID. Estimate Patient Cost from Encounter Lookup

For details on how to estimate patient cost, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Pre-Services Cost Estimation User Guide for NextGen Enterprise PM. On the Encounter Lookup window, find the encounters. Right-click an encounter from the encounter list. Select Estimate Patient Cost. The Estimate Patient Cost window opens. Cost Estimation for a Person

A person in NextGen® Enterprise PM is denoted by and can be any of the following: New patient who has not yet been checked in for the first appointment Guarantor for a patient in the practice Insurance policy holder for a patient in the practice Emergency contact for a patient in the practice Patient in another practice within the same enterprise You can find a person using the People Lookup window and initiate cost estimation for the person. You can open the People Lookup window through one of the following methods. Selecting Lookup or Est Patient Cost on the toolbar. Selecting Tasks > Estimate Patient Cost from the menu. Selecting Tasks > Lookup > People from the menu. You can use the search criteria to find the person. You can open the Estimate Patient Cost window by right-clicking the record of the specific person and selecting Estimate Patient Cost. Run Autoflow from an Encounter

Before you begin Ensure that the Estimate Patient Cost item is included in the autoflow. You can run the autoflow for an encounter during check-in and/or check-out process for a person or patient. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM and do one of the following: Select Encounter on the toolbar. Select Tasks > Lookup > Encounters. The Encounter Lookup window opens. Use the search criteria and select Find. The encounters that match the search criteria display under Encounter List. From the Encounter List, right-click on an encounter and do one of the following: Select Checkin from the menu to start the check-in. Select Checkout from the menu to start the check-out. The first window configured in the autoflow opens. Select AutoFlow to open the next window in the sequence. Continue with the autoflow until the Estimate Patient Cost window opens.
