Enter Charges

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges on the NextGen® Enterprise PM toolbar. The Charge Posting window opens. To enter a charge, select New. Fill the fields for each charge entered on the encounter. Press the Tab key to move forward to the next field. Press the Shift and Tab keys to move back to the previous field. To complete the charge, do one of the following: To save the charge and enter another charge on the same encounter, select Next. The charge displays in the Charge Ledger at the bottom of the window. To save the charge without entering another charge, select Save. The charge displays in the Charge Ledger at the bottom of the window. To save the charge and clear the window to enter charges on another encounter, select Next Enc. To cancel the charge without saving changes, select Cancel. Enable Facility Billing for Places of Service

The place of service can indicate whether a line item is facility or non-facility, which can be priced and reimbursed differently for the same service. For example, service rendered in a surgical center could have different reimbursement from service rendered in an office. Open File Maintenance, and then select Code Tables. The Code Tables List window opens. Select Places of Service code table from the Code Table list, and then double-click a place of service. The Modify Place of Service Information window opens. Select the Facility check box, and then select OK. The Code Tables List window displays a green check mark in the Facility column for the place of service. Selecting a Place of Service You can assign a place of service to a location or service item code after you have set up the Places of Service code table and indicated the facilities. General Tab

The Service Items Library > General tab includes general information for each SIM code that affects charge posting, billing, claims and reporting in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The General tab includes the following fields: Field Description Place of Service You can select a default Place of Service. This default displays on the Charge Posting window. Notes: A place of service selected at the SIM level overrides a place of service at the location level. You can select <none> as the place of service if the service can be performed at different kinds of places. However, if you select <none>, the charge does not create. Component Select the component type for this service item: Global (both the technical and professional), Professional (physician supervision and interpretation), or Technical (equipment or technology). The Component field appears only if the SIM fields: Show dept, modality and component check box is selected in the Libraries Practice Preferences. This field is required. Note:

Charge Posting for Anesthesia Billing

Once you have setup your practice to support anesthesia billing by completing the setup for anesthesia concurrency billing, and defined your claim rules and SIM pricing options in File Maintenance for anesthesia, you need to select a default practice-level Anesthesia Library and set up an ASA Crosswalk library to activate the crosswalk file on the Charge Posting window before entering charges for anesthesia services.
