Change in AR w/o Enc Rate Report

The Change in A/R w/o Enc Rate by encounter report allows health centers to view charges and adjustments related to their encounter rate billing. The report is a modified version of the Monthly Changes in A/R by Encounter report. It can be used for specific payers using encounter rate billing.

With encounter rate billing, total charges are inflated if the Encounter Rate Library is configured to add the Encounter Rate SIM code as an additional charge onto each encounter during the billing process.

Note: Charges are not inflated if the Encounter Rate Billing library is configured to insert the Encounter Rate SIM code in Encounter Maintenance > Billing & Collections tab.

Total adjustments can also be inflated if the Encounter Rate Billing library is configured to auto-adjust charges during the billing process, or if a contract for the encounter rate payer exists to auto-adjust charges during charge posting.

The report has filters that identify encounter rate payers (Enc Rate Payers) and encounter rate SIM codes (Enc Rate Service Items) so that net charges and net adjustments can be calculated.

Significant columns on this report are:

ER Chg Amt (Encounter Rate Charge Amount):
This column displays the total ER charges. It populates only for the payers selected on the Enc Rate Payers or Enc Rate Fin Classes filters. The column amount includes charges for those SIM codes selected on the Enc Rate Service Items or Enc Rate Department filters.
ER Net Chg Amt (Encounter Rate Net Charge Amount):
This column displays the result of the following calculation:

Chg Amt – ER Chg Amt = ER Net Chg Amt
ER Adj Amt (Encounter Rate Adjustment Amount):
This column displays the total adjustments posted to non-ER charges. It populates only for the payer selected on the Enc Rate Payers and/or Enc Rate Fin Classes filters. The column amount includes adjustments posted against all SIM codes except those selected on the Enc Rate Service Items or Enc Rate Department filters.
Net ER Adj (Encounter Rate Net Adjustment Amount):
This column displays the result of the following calculation:

(ER Chg Amt – ER Net Chg Amt) + (ER Net Chg Amt + [– Actual Adjustments]) = Net ER Adj

Note: The report is not intended to match or be a substitute for the reports generated in NextGen® UDS Reporting.

To access the report in NextGen® Enterprise PM, select the Reports menu and select Health Center and then select Change in AR w/o Enc Rate.
