Form and Label Templates Printing Sort Order

You can specify the form fields that you want to use to sort a form or label template based on the form fields used to create the form and label template. When you set up the form fields that you want to use to sort the forms or labels by, the form or label templates automatically display in that sort order when previewing or printing in batch mode. Note: You can select a maximum of five form fields for the printing sort order criteria. If you attempt to select more than five form fields, a window displays to remind you. Set Up a Default Sort Order for Printing

Access File Maintenance. Select System Master Files, then PM, and then either Forms or Label Templates. The Forms List or Label Templates List window appears. From the list, double-click to open the desired Form or Label Template. The Form Design or Label Design window appears. From the design toolbar, select the Template Sorting Preference button. The Template Sorting Preference window appears. All data fields included on the form or label are listed in the Available Data Fields section on the left. From the Available Data Fields list, select a data field to be used in the default sort order for printing. Select the Add button to move the data field to the Selected Data Fields section on the right. Repeat steps 6 and 7 to add up to four additional data fields to the default sort. Note: A maximum of 5 data fields can be selected for the default sort. Forms and Labels

Forms and Labels can be created in File Maintenance and then printed for an individual patient, or for multiple patients in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Any type of form that is used by a practice can be created in the Forms master file, or the Forms Enhanced master file. Some forms may be used to gather information from a patient, such as an intake form. Other forms may be used to provide information to a patient or to their insurance provider. Each form is created using a combination of free-text verbiage for static information on the form, and data fields that are automatically populated with patient-specific information when the form is printed. Labels that are used by a practice can be created in the Label Templates master file. Examples include mailing labels, chart labels and specimen labels. Change the Default Sort Order when Printing in Batch Mode

In the instructions below, printing in batch mode from Encounters Lookup is used to explain the setup, which applies to both form and label templates. To change the data field default printing sort order when printing in batch mode: From the Main menu select Tasks and then Lookup and Encounters. The Encounter Lookup window appears. Enter the appropriate criteria and select Find. In the search results, put a check mark next to the appropriate patient records. After selecting the records, right-click and select Print Forms from the menu. The Print Forms window appears. Select the applicable form template from the Template drop-down list. Select the Template SortingOpen Record button. The Template Sorting Preference window displays, which shows the data fields that were selected as the default printing sort order for the form template.
