The Sliding Fee Schedule master file enables you to create a master sliding fee schedule with general parameters such as name, adjustment transaction code, effective/expiration dates, and alert notifications.
- Access File Maintenance.
- Select .
The Sliding Fee Schedules List window opens.
- Do one of the following:
- To add a new sliding fee schedule master, select the Open Menu button and select New.
- To modify an existing sliding fee schedule master, select the item in the list, select the Open Menu button and select Open.
The
Sliding Fee Schedule Maintenance window opens.
- In the Schedule Name field, enter a descriptive name for the sliding fee schedule master. This field is required.
- In the Adjustment Code field, select the adjustment transaction code to be used with the sliding fee schedule master. This field is required.
- In the Eff Date and Exp Date fields, enter effective and expiration dates for the sliding fee schedule master. These fields are required.
- In the Re-Verify Days field, enter the number of days after which users must reverify the patient's family size and income information.
Note: Once the number of days defined has passed since the patient’s family size/income information was last verified, an alert displays to users to re-verify the information. The sliding fee schedule becomes inactive for the patient until the information is re-verified and updated.
- In the Note field, enter any additional free-text notes for the sliding fee schedule master. This field is not used anywhere else in the system and is for informational purposes only.
- To display an alert to users when the defined number of Re-Verify Days has passed, select the Display family size and income re-verify alert check box.
- To display an alert to users to make them aware the patient is on a sliding fee schedule, select the Display alert identifying a sliding fee patient check box.
- In the Sliding Fee Schedules section, do one of the following:
- To add a new sliding fee schedule, select the Open Menu button and select New.
- To modify an existing sliding fee schedule, select the item in the list, select the Open Menu button and select Open.
The Sliding Fee Schedule Detail Maintenance window appears.
- If the Sliding Fee Schedules section includes multiple rows, where each row is a different sliding fee schedule within the master file, use the buttons to list them in order of priority. When more than one sliding fee schedule applies to an encounter, the schedule with the highest priority is used to auto-adjust the charges on the encounter.
To change the priority order for schedules within the master file, select the row for a schedule and then do one of the following:
- Select Promote or Demote to move the item up or down in the list.
- Select the double up/down arrow to move the item to the top or bottom of the list.
- Do one of the following:
- To save changes and add another Sliding Fee Schedule master file, select Next.
- To save changes and close the window, select OK.
Note: When editing an existing sliding fee master file, the Next button does not display.
