Set Up Tasks for Auto Creation by Payer

On the Auto Create Payer/Fin Class tab on the Task Types window, you can set tasks to be automatically assigned to a group or to users based on the payer or the payer's financial class. When a task is created for an encounter task type, and the encounter matches the location selected on this tab, the task is assigned to the selected users and groups.

To set up a task to automatically generate, perform the following steps:

  1. Open or set up a new task types.
  2. In the Source Type field, select Encounter. This field is required.
    The Auto Create Location tab is enabled.
  3. On the Auto Creation tab, select the actions that trigger the task.
  4. If you want to assign a value to the task for reporting purposes, select the up and down arrows in the Task Value field. The higher the number, the more important the task is. This number ranks all of the tasks by source type. Therefore, if you have three tasks with a source type of encounter and they have task values of 1, 5, and 10, the task with a task value of 10 is more important than the tasks with values of 1 and 5.
  5. Select the Auto Create Payer/Fin Class tab.

  6. Next to Default Assigned To By, select Payer or Financial Class, and then select the drop-down arrow to select the specific payer or financial class. The Financial Class option enables you to associate the Auto Creation actions with multiple payers.
    You must select a payer or financial class before you can select users or groups in the next step.
  7. Under Users/Groups, select the user or group that you want to assign the task to, then select . The user or group is added to the Selected Users/Groups list.
  8. To remove a user or group, select the user or group in the Selecte Users/Groups list, then select .
    The user or group is fremoved from the list.
  9. To remove all users and groups from the Selected Users/Groups list, right-click in the list, then select Clear.
  10. Select OK.
    A task is generated each time the payer or financial class associated with an encounter matches a payer or financial class selected on this tab. The task is then assigned to the selected users and groups.
