Set Up Auto Worker Tasks to Move Balances to Patient Responsibility

This auto worker option in task types automatically moves balance from one bucket to another. For example, when the patient's insurance does not pay a balance after a specified number of days, the balance automatically moves to patient responsibility. This task is worked automatically by the application based on the Auto Worker action chosen and completed. The completed task is then reflected in the Worklog and the Edit Task dialog box in NextGen® Enterprise PM.

For an encounter-based task type, the auto create action that triggers this is No third party payment received for 0 days since the claim process date for financial class <Unknown>.

To set up a task to automatically move balances, perform the following steps:

  1. Open or set up new task types.
  2. On the Task Types dialog box, select the Auto Creation tab.

  3. In the Source Type field, select Encounter. This is a required field.
    A list of task action descriptions for that source type display in the Action column. The items in the list represent events that occur in the application that may be selected to automatically generate tasks.

  4. Select the drop-down arrow in the Default Assigned To for all selectedactions and select who you would like to assign this task to.
  5. Select the following Action by selecting the Activate column to the left of the action.
    No third party payment received for <0> days since the claim process date for financial class <Unknown>
    A green check mark displays in the Activate column.
  6. Right-click in the Action column to enter a value, if applicable.
  7. If you want to override the default user or group that the tasks are assigned to, then right-click in the Override Assigned To field, and then select Open to select a new user or group.
  8. Select the Auto Worker tab.

  9. In the Activate column, select Move balance from <Unknown> to <Unknown> to occur nightly, where the <Unknown>s would be your COB1, 2, 3, and patient buckets.
    A green check mark displays.
  10. Right-click in the Action column to enter values for the parameters.

    A task is generated each time the conditions specified in the Action column occur.
