Activate and Assign a Payer to a Practice

When you select Practice access for payer master file, the payers can be defined at the practice level, and you can restrict which practices have access to them. Providers System Tab

On the System tab, you can add a provider or modify provider details using the following field descriptions. Field Description Provider Payers This field lists payers and payer numbers added to the provider. After you add a provider, you should add values in the Provider Payers list. Taxonomy Code This field displays a default taxonomy code to classify providers according to type or specialty. Specialty Code1/ Specialty Code2 This field displays the provider's specialty codes. You can modify specialties in the Specialties master file. Provider Subgrouping 1/ Provider Subgrouping 2 (User-defined fields) This field displays provider subgrouping category types that you can use as reporting filters. To modify the information, you can refer to the Provider Subgrouping 1 and Provider Subgrouping 2 fields on the General tab of the Enterprise Preferences window. The Practice access for provider master file check box, when selected, allows providers to be defined at the practice level, and you can restrict which practices have access to them. Once the practices have been set up with or without access to the selected provider, there are specific areas in the application where that practice, depending on its access, will or will not see the provider. The areas are: The Referring Physician field in Add/Modify Appointment window. The Physician Referring field in Eligibility Referral Lookup window. The Additional provider field in Charge Entry window. Note: The Additional provider field is dependent on the Addtl provider selection in the Charge Entry Preferences. If the check box is selected and All providers is also selected, then the access to the providers listed in the Additional Provider field is determined by the practice access settings. Assign a Practice to a Payer

In File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > Payers. The Payers List window opens. Right-click the applicable payer and then select Practice Access. The Payer Master Access by Practice window opens. Note: By default, all the practices listed on the Payer Master Access by Practice window are selected to allow access to all of the payers listed in the Payer master file. However, when a new payer is added, the practice in which the payer was created is the only one that has access to that payer. From the Practice list: Select the check boxes individually, next to the practices in the list, or right-click a practice and then select Select All option to allow specific practices to access the payer. Clear the check boxes next to the practices in the list to prevent specific practices from accessing the payer. Note: You must select at least one practice. Select OK.
