Contract Edits Practice Preferences

The Contract Edits Practice Preferences lists the Contract Edit Alerts that are triggered by certain conditions as described by each alert. The alerts are grouped according to the areas of the application where they display, which include Appointment Scheduling, Balance Control, Billing Process, Charge Entry, Insurance Modification, and Payment Entry. With the Contract Edits Practice Preferences, you can: Select the user groups that see the alerts. Require some Charge Entry Contract Edits during charge entry. Users must correct the edit in order to save a charge unless they have the right to override the Charge Entry Contract Edit Alert. Charge Entry Operation

Subgroup Used in Description Apply Charge Discount NextGen® Enterprise PM Enables users to access the Charge Discount screen from Charge Entry. Charge Price Override NextGen® Enterprise PM Enables users to override (change) the fee for a procedure when they enter charges regardless of the amount. Note: You can prevent overrides for a specific service item by selecting the Prevent charge amount overrides check box on the Service Items Library Maintenance window > General tab regardless of the permission set for either of the Charge Price Override security rights. Set Up Security Access Rights for Charge Discounts

You must have security access rights to enable the Apply Charge Discount option in System Administrator and to access the Discounts window from the Charge Posting window in NextGen® Enterprise PM. To set up security access rights for charge discounts, do the following: Open System Administrator. Select Practice. Select the desired user group name under the practice. Select the Rights tab. Select Operations, and then select Charge Entry. Select Apply Charge Discount, and then set the appropriate Access Rights for the group. If you select Yes, the Discounts icon is available on the Charge Posting toolbar. If you select No, then the Discounts icon is not available on the Charge Posting toolbar. To save changes, select Save, and then Update. Security for Process Date Override

With the appropriate security rights, you can override (backdate) the Process Date for charges and transactions so that they appear on reports for the desired financial period. Month end and other reports printed for financial management purposes are typically run using a Process Date range. Only users with access rights to the following options in System Administrator can override the Process Date for charges and transactions. Operations > Transactions > Batch Process Date Override Yes: Users can access the Process Date field on the transaction Batch Maintenance window and they can enter an override process date for batches as needed. Transactions within the batch will have a process date equal to the date specified by the user. No: Users cannot access the Process Date field on the transaction Batch Maintenance window. Charge Entry Module

The Charge Entry module subgroup in the System Administrator application enables users to add, modify, and delete charges applied to patient encounters and employer invoices (Charges icon).
