Send Messages to Patients

Before you begin Ensure that the patient is enrolled in Patient Portal. You can initiate a message from the Patient Information Card (PIC) and send it to a recipient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You can attach a template, document, image, email, or report to the message. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. On the PIC, select New Message. Note: The New Message button appears only when the patient enrollment is complete in Patient Portal. The icon indicates that the enrollment is complete. The Patient Portal Message window opens with the recipient’s name in the To field by default. You can change the recipient or add recipients from the To list. Verify the recipient's name, enter the subject, and message, and then select Send & Chart. If you do not want to add the message to patient's chart, select the Do not add to chart option under Send & Chart. Enroll a Patient in NextGen® PxP Portal

Before you begin Ensure that the patient portal must setup in File Maintenance and has a valid NextGen® PxP Portal license for your practice. If the patient is not enrolled in NextGen® PxP Portal, you can send an enrollment invitation email through NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For more information on NextGen® PxP Portal, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest NextGen®PxP Portal Provider Guide forNextGen®Enterprise EHR. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. To invite the patient for NextGen® PxP Portal enrollment, do one of the following: On the Patient Information Card (PIC), select Enroll Now next to the Not enrolled in Patient Portal indicator. On the main toolbar, select File > Patient Portal > Enroll Now. NextGen® Enterprise EHR sends the patient an enrollment invitation email and a text message notification about the invitation. Enrollment Status Indicators of Patients

NextGen® PxP Portal has the following enrollment status indicators. Status Icon Tool Tip Description Not enrolled Not Enrolled The patient is not enrolled in NextGen® PxP Portal. Not enrolled Aged Out The patient has aged out and the enrollment of guardian has been revoked. Pending Pending The practice has initiated the patient's enrollment, but the patient has not completed the enrollment. Completed Completed; Last Login Date MM/DD/YYYY Note: The last logon information appears only when the icon is available for selecting. The patient has completed the enrollment. Deactivated Deactivated The practice has deactivated the NextGen® PxP Portal account of the patient. If the account is activated again, the enrollment status changes to Completed. Enroll a Patient in NextGen® PxP Portal

If the Patient Portal trigger action is Enrollment, you can set up a NextGen® PxP Portal account for the selected patient through NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For more information on the enrollment process, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest NextGen® PxP Portal Provider Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Ask your system administrator which NextGen® Enterprise EHR template and field to use. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, select the template that contains the Patient Portal trigger, and then select OK. Set up Patient Portal Trigger

The Patient Portal action launches windows at run time that enable you to: Set up an account for a patient on the NextGen® PxP Portal website. Schedule the future delivery of a message to a patient enrolled in NextGen® PxP Portal. After a message has been scheduled, you can review and edit or delete it, if necessary. NextGen® PxP Portal is a secure Internet portal that enables patients to communicate with providers, request appointments, request prescription refills, review test results, complete online forms, view documents and statements, and access health reference information. Viewing Patient Portal Enrollment Status

You can view the NextGen® PxP Portal enrollment status on the Add Person Information and Add Patient Information windows in NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM if the practice uses NextGen® PxP Portal. You can select the NextGen® PxP Portal enrollment status icon to open the Patient Portal Enrollment window.
