Patient Sharing

The patient sharing feature enables you to set up specific lists of patients that a user can or cannot view while working with the system. As the default, all users can view all of the available patients. Therefore, you must manually set up patient sharing for each user. The two levels of patient sharing setup are the: User Level – enables you to set up, modify or share an Inclusion and Exclusion List Practice Level – enables you to modify or share an Inclusion and Exclusion List Note: To modify or share an Inclusion/Exclusion List at the practice level, the user must already have the applicable kind of list set up through the General tab of the User pane. There are three options available for patient sharing: Neither – enables users to see all of the available patients Include – enables users to see ONLY the pre-defined list of patients Exclude – prevents users from seeing the patients included in the pre-defined list of patients Set Up Patient Sharing for User Level In System Adminis

Restrict Access at the Case Level

You can restrict security at the case level according to Diagnosis Category, Employer, Location, Market, Payer, Case Type, and Case Category. The kinds of items you can restrict come from the following areas: Diagnosis category master file Employer master file Location master file Case Market master list Payer master file Case Type master list Case Category master list If a case contains any of the selected items that are marked for restriction, the entire case becomes unavailable for viewing by users of the group. For example, a list of restricted locations can be maintained for each group. If it is documented that a patient's case is associated with "Community Medical Center" and Community Medical Center is set as restricted in the System Administrator, then the case is marked as private. Restrict Access at the Case Level - user member of multiple groups

If the user is a member of multiple groups, the user cannot see the cases for locations that are restricted for all the groups in which they are members. Select a group, and then select the Case Management tab. Under Restrictions, select the items you want to restrict, and then select the Modify button next to the item. The Modify Restrictions window opens. If you selected Diagnosis Category, the window also displays the codes and descriptions associated with the diagnosis category. Select specific items for restriction, and then select OK. Under Case Type Category Restrictions, select the categories you want to restrict, and then select Modify. The Modify Case Type Category Item Restrictions window opens. Select the specific items for restriction or select Check All. Case Privacy

There is a security control setup at the Case level. Restriction of security rights can be set for: Diagnosis Category Employer Location Market Payer Case Type Case Category. For example, a list of restricted employers can be maintained for each group or role in the system. If it is documented that a patient’s case is associated with “NextGen” and NextGen Healthcare is marked as restricted, then the case is marked as private. Cases marked as private are suppressed if the case data has been designated as restricted for the specific user group. Private Cases All of the contents of an Encounter associated with a private case are not displayed in the Encounters tab. Any row data within the NextGen® Enterprise modules is hidden if the case is marked as private and the user is restricted.
