Field	Description
Enterprise ID	Displays the ID of the enterprise. This ID is automatically assigned when a new enterprise is created and it cannot be changed. The Default Enterprise is assigned the ID "00001," and each new enterprise created is assigned the next sequential number.
Name	Displays the name of the enterprise. Note: If you want to change an enterprise name, you must log into File Maintenance and change the name in the enterprise master file.

Enterprises and Practices

You must create your enterprises and practices in File Maintenance before you can add groups and users in the System Administrator application. If your practice provides multispecialty care to patients, we recommended that you set up the necessary number of enterprises and practices in order to facilitate proper security and management of your system and data. You can do the following in File Maintenance: Create enterprises. Set up your enterprises. Create practices in each enterprise. Create or Modify Enterprises

Whether creating a new enterprise or modifying an existing one, you need to fill in some basic information such as: Name – What you want to call the enterprise (up to 40 characters in length). Enterprise Licensing – Information confirming your organization's NextGen licensing (Electronic Medical Records and NextGen® Enterprise PM). Log on to File Maintenance. Note: If you are creating your first enterprise, you can only select Default Practice and Default Enterprise on the login window. The File Maintenance window opens. Under Master Files, select System. The Master Files – System list opens. Select Enterprises. The Enterprises List window opens and lists the existing enterprises. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu , and then select New. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, select open menu , and then select Open. Create a Practice in a Specific Enterprise

Use the following steps when you want to create: Your first practice within an enterprise that you have already created. A new practice in an enterprise that you are NOT logged into. Log on to File Maintenance. The File Maintenance window opens. In the upper left corner of the File Maintenance window, select the enterprise that you want to add a new practice to. Under Master Files, select System. If the enterprise you selected has no practices in it yet, the Master Files - System list only displays the Enterprise and Practices master files icons. Select the Practices icon. The Practices List Access window opens. Select the Open Menu button and then select New. The Practice Defaults tab on the Add Practice Information window opens. Enter the practice information. Select OK. The new practice does not display in the Practices List because you do not have access to it. Create a Practice in the Enterprise You Are Logged Into

When you are logged into an enterprise in File Maintenance, you can create or modify any practice within that enterprise. Access File Maintenance, and select Master Files > System. Select the Practices icon. The Practices List Access window opens. Select the open menu button and then select New. The Practice Defaults tab on the Add Practice Information window opens. Enter the practice information. Select OK. The new practice does not display in the Practices List because you do not have access to it. Create Your First Enterprise

Your installation includes a default enterprise that you use to log in to File Maintenance for the first time. After you log in with the default, you can create your first enterprise. After you create this new enterprise and set up your rights, you are no longer required to log in under the default to create additional enterprises. CAUTION: Contact NextGen Healthcare Support before you attempt to create additional enterprises. Log on to File Maintenance. Note: Until you create additional enterprises, you can only select Default Practice and Default Enterprise in the login window. The NextGen File Maintenance window opens. Enterprises

The Enterprise master file enables you to create and modify enterprises. You cannot delete enterprises. Your NextGen® Enterprise installation includes a default enterprise that you use to log in to File Maintenance for the first time. You must complete all of the information needed to make the default enterprise specific for your organization. Some billing services, hosting facilities, and some organizations with geographically dispersed practices or custom interface needs might want to create additional enterprises.
