Access External Patient Education from the Problems Module

You can access the External Patient Education resource from the Problems module. The external resource collects ICD-9, ICD-10 (as available), or SNOMED CT (Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine Clinical Terms) code information for the selected problem and the patient’s age, age range, and gender. This information is passed through the InfoButton to the external system. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Problems module for a patient. Enter a new problem into the Problem List tab or the Billing ICD List tab, if required. Note: The Problem List tab has the SNOMED CT codes while the Billing ICD List tab has the ICD-9, or where applicable, ICD-10 codes. Do one of the following: Right-click the problem, and then select Resources > External Patient Education. Select the problem, and then select Resources > External Patient Education from the toolbar of the Problems module. The application directs you to the external URL set up in File Maintenance. The View/Add Synonym function is available in both the Problem List tab and the Billing ICD List tab. In the Problem List, synonyms are added to the list of terms that display for the SNOMED® Concept when the Fully Specified Name is entered in the search field. In the Billing ICD List, synonyms are added to the list of terms that display when an ICD Code is entered in the search field. Adding synonyms to the SNOMED® Concept and the Billing ICD List simplifies searching for terms and helps to ensure a standard list of customized search results when variations of a term are entered in the search field. Add a New Problem to a Patient's Problem List

Before you begin Ensure that you have selected the Specialty and Visit Type as Care Management. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Care Transitions tab, expand the Problem List after Discharge panel, and then select Add.The Problems window opens. Select Add Problem.A search window appears. Add Problem Window Note: Problems are stored in the database and displayed using SNOMED® CT (SNOMED Clinical Terms). Search for the problem by typing a full or partial name of the problem in the search box. Note: The Add to My Tracked Problems option is selected as a default. Select the desired problem. Select to display and add any additional details. Make any necessary changes to the problem. Select Accept to add the problem to the list.The following options are also available: Options List Re-Code: to change or edit the problem code. Resolve: to set resolve date for the problem. Set Chronic: to add the problem to the patient’s chronic problems. Delete: to remove the problem. Resources: available
