Cache Multiple Templates

You can cache all templates or only templates with out-of-date time stamps. You can run the Template Cache Generator from Template Editor or from a standalone executable file.
  1. Do one of the following:
    • Double-click TemplateCacheGenerator.exe in your NextGen installation folder.
    • From the Tools menu in Template Editor, select Create Cache > All Templates.
The NextGen Template Cache Generator window opens.

The Only out of date templates check box is selected by default. A template is out-of-date if the cache time stamp for the template .ngt_file and the cache time stamp in the template database table do not match.

  2. To cache all templates regardless of the cache time stamp, clear the check box.
  3. Select Cache Templates.
The window displays the name of each template being checked and cached. It shows a progress bar and how many of the total number of templates have been cached.
    1. To stop caching the remaining templates, select Cancel.
      The TemplateCacheGenerator window opens.
    2. Do one of the following:
      • To cancel caching, select Yes, and then select Close in the NextGen Template Cache Generator window.

Canceling does not undo caching of the templates that have already been processed.

      • To continue caching, select No.
If a template discrepancy or error is detected, a message window appears.
    3. To continue, select OK.
For some errors, you can select Cancel to skip caching the template that contains the error.
When caching is completed, the TemplateCacheGenerator window displays the message.
  4. To dismiss the window, select OK.
  5. Select Close.
The templates are cached in the Template Server Cache path designated in Templates Preferences in the System Administrator application.
