To associate a problem note on a data sheet with a patient problem, assign the unique ID of the patient problem to the problem note.
For example, you can set up the Patient Problem data sheet to display all patient problems. When the user selects a patient problem from the data sheet in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, the unique ID of the selected problem is assigned to the Problem Notes data sheet. The data sheet then displays all problem notes associated with the selected patient problem.
This example shows one approach to setting up the Problem Notes data sheet; you can set it up in other ways, as needed.
The basic setup steps are as follows:
- Insert a Problem Notes data sheet on the template, and select the following database fields: Create Timestamp, Created By, Modify Timestamp, Modified By, Note ID, and Note.
Note: The Note field must be the last column displayed on the data sheet.
- Insert a Problem List data sheet on the template, and select the Unique ID and Description fields.
- Create a separate text-type, data entry (edit) field for each of the following fields: Note ID of the problem note selected, Create Timestamp, Created By, Modify Timestamp, and Modified By.
- Create a note field for the selected problem note.
- On the Problem Notes data sheet, set up an Assign Field Value trigger for a Row Selected event. Assign the corresponding database field to each of the following fields: Note ID, Create Timestamp, Created By, Modify Timestamp, and Modified By.
- On the Problem Notes data sheet, set up an Assign Note Value trigger for a Row Selected event. Assign the corresponding database field to the note field.
- On the Problem List data sheet, set up an Assign Field Value trigger for a Row Selected event. Assign the Unique ID field to the Problem Notes data sheet.
